Ameliarate Through Wine

For the last episode of the first series, who could be a better guest than my own father, John Singer!  As someone who describes himself as ‘impossible to classify’ - we explore a range of wines which ‘can’t be put in a box’ and which also reveal some hilarious as well as revealing professional and personal stories. Being a pioneer of Private Equity in Europe, we explore the importance of having courage in life, his scariest career moments and why he ‘almost’ but never quite made it to investing in wine!  As well as his work in the Finance World, John was also awarded a CBE for his contributions to the world of Education and the Arts. The importance of supporting small businesses, individuals and of course independent wine makers is championed over a range of fascinating wines from an Australian viognier to a superb and fantastically priced South African Bordeaux blend – both available from my favourite local wine shop and online at  Golborne Wine and Deli. Breakfast TV legend and entertainment editor and journalist Richard Arnold, joins me on the sofa for a louche lunch over some exquisite Deliveroo delivered Italian food. This week I am joined by two friends and iconic punk rockers, Jamie Hince from The Kills and Robbie Furze from The Big Pink! This ends up being one of the most epic wine conversations I have on my sofa – both in length ( don’t worry we cut down the 4 hour chat!) AND in terms of relating wine to music and the creative processes behind both art forms. I was far too scared to cook lunch today, as my guest this week is Master Chef Judge, chef and restauranteur, Monica Galetti. Over delicious baked goods from Sally Clarke, we covered all kinds of topics from how to navigate working with food and media, creating work/ life balance when you run a business with your husband, her worst food and wine pairing and how one can cut costs when cooking for Christmas. All kinds of stories were revealed including when Monica had to deliver a baby and then cook her client’s dinner to her water’s breaking on Gordon Ramsay’s ‘Hell’s Kitchen’.
