Ji Chong, the runaway prince turned bounty hunter, is hired to capture a mysterious bounty: the once-famous composer musician, Xie Yun, who offended the Magistrate of the town of XiWang(Hope) enough for him to ban all perfomances and rename the town AnJing(Silence). Gradually, Ji Chong and Xie Yun reveal (and help each other heal from) deep traumas. They also grow ridiculously in love and take forever to kiss about it. --- Plot includes: fluffy playful flirting; the importance of respect; many queer and/or trans characters; angsty separations (which allow for mutual pining and joyous reunions); major consequences from a minor character death; violent women with one-track minds; supportive found families; innocent bed-sharing; romantic fishing; identity reveals; wlw subplot; and, more than one villainous town leader to confront. --- This is an EXTREME SLOW BURN, hopepunk fantasy love story crossover that borrows some aspects, ensemble characters, and locations from both canons, set in ancient fantasy China, and full of silliness, symbolism, and survival.
