Episode 220 - Where to start with AI art

Season 7, Ep. 220

This week I sit down to talk about the boogey man in the room AI "art". Now if you don't know about it and want to know how AI "art" works there is a very good legal and technical break down in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv9cdTh8cUo by Corridor Crew who are a visual effects company and I suggest you watch that for an in-depth of the tech whilst I cover the moral and conceptual implications of it all.

So that's right! we're here to talk about stable diffusion and all the other tech tools which have come to surge upon the world in the last few months. I'll be covering this from the tool creation side but also looking at how from a fine art perspective this affects the work made and really the potential impact it could have on how we make and see work.

Should we be using it? Probably not. Will it stop anyone and companies exploiting the tech? No. Will it ruin Art? Remains to be scene but probably not considering most of it wouldn't class as art...

You may agree or disagree, lukcily for me art is subjective though and until AI can make angsty concrete sculptures where the concept is the process rather than the object I think i'll be ok.

  • 253. Episode 253 - Seven things you cant say on Youtube.

    44:26
The internet is an odd place, as discussed recently with WTF Pots the length and breadth of what can get you in hot water with the powers that be of any platform is a real challenge for artists and not just in the modern era. In 1966 Lenny Bruce listed out nine words he'd been arrested for in 1972 George Carlin made a statement on his album Class Clown to follow it up with seven words you cant say on TV. So I thought I'd channel my inner stand up and change the format slightly and discuss all the things you cant discuss on Youtube without the watchful eye of the moderators taking a look. As we discuss not the topics themselves but the premise of what these items create you too can join us as we talk about how to get banned on Youtube. Here's hoping it doesn't get taken down.Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete

Sarah is a self taught sculptor who is best known for portraying the weird and wonderfull human body in a sculpted fashion. Everything from prolapse anus's, mice in vaginas and penis bananas. There is no end to the wonderful things her mind can do with imagery and pottery. Recommended by a previous guest we catch up to talk the challenges of being an artist on social media especially when the work you make no longer fits the "Acceptable" terms and conditions of the platform. So quick come join us before Youtube bans us. • 251. Episode 251 - The fundamentals of creating.

    31:51
The first fundamental of creating is "F*** your fundamentals" Or rather that the best way to create anything is to consider that your core values and what you're looking to get out of things is often different to someone else.So whether you're looking to understand the fundamentals of photography, Illustration, sculpture, baking, building, music or anything which requires some level of method and technique to complete My first suggestion is to simply just try and work with what you have and then build on top of your first fail. As someone who fully utilizes visual language as a way of communicating and with a podcast which is based around encouraging discussion and communication it felt about the right time to sit down and catch up.In doing so this week we discuss just how little we know of one another despite both of us having a fairly solid online presence and how we've know each other through other people for years but are both very guarded with our own lives. In a world where people are living online and exposing every inch of their day it was great to catch up. Talk a little personally of the why we are as we are and see just what we could learn! You can find more of Sarah via :https://www.instagram.com/spadgerinahttps://spadgeuk.com/
  • 249. Episode 249 - You don't still watch cartoons do you?

    24:04
Who watches cartoons? Should adults watch cartoons? Is it ok to enjoy cartoons? Mystery ain't it. It seems a generational divide more than anything where adults who play with lego, parents who play video games and people who enjoy oddity are setup to be knocked down when they meet people who are older. This week I wax lyrical on a topic of when i was questioned by an older woman in a lift and discuss how your interest in novelty doesn't define how good or bad you are at taking responsibility within your own life. • 245. Episode 245 - There are starving kids somewhere.

    21:53
Feel bad about your life? How dare you? Got a complaint about the world? What a whiny kid you are. Didn't you know there is always someone worse of, in peril or wholly unprepared for whatever situation they are befallen with? You didn't? Oh well let me explain. That's right we're going out on a bang of controversey and logic. Something we were told often as kids or at least my generation was "There are kids starving in Africa" hell our generation coined the phrase "First world problems" but the reality is never so simple. Tragedy and pain isn't comparable and there will be always people worse off. So lets delve into that and discuss the phrases which made us feel guilty and how you can have a bad time and still sympathise with those having a worst one.Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteYou can support the show and Graham by visitingwww.instagram.com/yellingatconcretewww.yellingatconcrete.bigcartel.comwww.ko-fi.com/yellingatconcrete
