Episode 160 - Take one dose of concrete a day.

Season 5, Ep. 160

This week i sit down and discuss what streaming for 204 days straight taught me about myself, the audience and how how it changed how i work and the work i'm making. Or at least what people see of it. We get into a discussion self worth, twitch, rpan and anxiety and how we survived the lockdown periods by reaching out and bringing together people in a constant concrete world.

Overall since 2020 I have streamed over 325 days all together and it has been a journey so this is a dedication to those who tuned in and a thank you for anyone we met and lost track of along the way!

We will be bringing the streams back at some point so keep an eye out if you are one of those who joined us and enjoyed what I did!

  • 262. Episode 262 - Is "Sign here" worth it when art is involved? Feat Emma Loughlin

    01:00:32||Season 8, Ep. 262
    This week i sit down with good friend of mine Emma Louhglin! Emma and I have known each other for a few years now and actually did the terrible dangerous thing of chatting via the internet first when i was streaming throughout the pandemic! Turns out we ended up living in the same area but she is in her own right a talented marketing manager working in New York within the music scene!With a history in small music and big music we often chat about bands and the direction of labels and media so we thought we'd finally take a moment to sit and do a deep dive on it and ask what the kids think of art. How Gen Z are getting their beginnings with no managers, no publicists and no venues to play and how getting started with Art can sometimes be the biggest challenge!Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete
  • 261. Episode 261 - What happens to passion when it's focused on pineapple on pizza?

    25:07||Season 8, Ep. 261
    This week we focus on the big questions the non trivial internet answers. What happens when your mind is so focused on small arguments that you expunge your energy and thoughts into the simple idea of putting a fruit on a pie? I tend not to get dragged into internet arguments, even in real life i avoid these kinds of asks because I have other things to focus on. Bigger questions I want answers too like Just where is Carmen Sandiego. So lets explore. Explore the energy you spend on the correct pronunciation of Scone, the idea of Pineapple on Pizza and who makes the best bagel and instead just say ok. Now lets move on. • 259. Episode 259 - Can you Gentrify a mind?

    24:45||Season 8, Ep. 259
    During a very recent solo podcast I talking about how the internet had become gentrified and in a world of online subscriptions, ad block and internet gate keeping we were in a different age. And Along with that I had another thought. Can you gentrify a human being? A mind? A thought? It's something I believe I've witnessed. Something where those who didn't have money no longer appreciate the simple idea of the free item or the low cost option because the price tag had made it worthless to them.So lets pick that scab a little more and ask. Can you gentrify a mind?Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete
  • 258. Episode 258 - Finding your sound in the online noise Feat @PostageTramps

    01:03:54||Season 8, Ep. 258
    This week we break new ground with the most people I've ever had on an episode on an episode!I'm hanging out with local New York based band  @PostageTramps . Comprised of members : Tristan, Julian, Sophia and Akshay they have been doing what artists do best and finding their sound and space within NYC. That's not an easy route to take especially in NY and with online spaces dominating new music. But I think they are talented and lovely people so figured we should talk to them.So we sit down to talk, the industry, Live shows vs online, Billy Joel and where an new indie band finds themselves in an ever changing online space when they are just getting started. If you're in NY I suggest giving them a follow and checking them out they are often playing and if you're not give them a listen on the various platforms.find more of themhttps://postagetramps.neocities.org/https://soundcloud.com/postagetrampshttps://www.instagram.com/postagetramps/https://www.youtube.com/@PostageTrampshttps://www.youtube.com/@PostageTrampsAvailable also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete
  • 257. Episode 257 - Getting evicted from the internet.

    24:08||Season 8, Ep. 257
    This week I get a little nostalgic. I get a little reminiscent and I get a little honest about how I was a few weeks back.The older internet was a free place but not completely free. But it was just enough that you could find random spaces and hang out there with no need to buy anything or watch an advert or even pay attention because they couldn't even collect your details!So lets sit down and talk about that and how slowly but surely they are gentrifying the internet.Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete

Having been artistic and exploring different mediums for years Warren has been in illustration, cartoons and currently is getting critical acclaim for his film making with dollmations.So we sat down to talk artistic and personal journeys in one of the most open interviews I've had the pleasure of conducting in a long time as we talk, the past the future and everything in between.You should check out Warren's youtube  @74renren  and also follow his work on:https://www.instagram.com/warrencito/https://www.warrencito.com/Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete
