We Owe Steven Bradbury An Apology...

Ep. 22

We've all seen the video...we've all had or know someone who's done a 'Bradbury' - being a winner only because everyone else fumbled.This wasn't how Steven Bradbury imagined his hard earned and well deserved professional speed skating career would pan out; becoming an iconic Aussie moment for all the wrong reasons after dedicating his whole life up to that point to the sport.

In this episode, we delve in to the 27 years of Steven Bradbury's life before the famed moment - the dedication, sacrifice and near death experiences that will ultimately change your perception of the man. His luck didn't just come in the minutes of the 2002 Olympic Speed Skating Final - it was created through years and years (and years) of gruelling passion towards a sport that he put on the Australian map.

  • 26. Clare Wibson - The Pilliga Princess Yarn

    45:05||Ep. 26
    ***For those here purely for the Pilliga Princess story - skip to 5:50. For our regulars, enjoy :)In the late 80s and 90s, Clare Wibson, along with a shopping trolley full of her belongings, roamed the 120km stretch of the Newell Highway running between Coonabarabran and Narrabri in Northwestern NSW.Information on Clare's life prior to this period is scarce at best, and the reason for her presence on the road is a mystery. However, after she was tragically struck down by a southbound truck on the 20th March 1993, many truckers and unknowing travellers alike report seeing the same thing - a woman with blinding white hair pushing a shopping trolley down the highway.The Pilliga Scrub in Northwestern NSW has a long history of mysterious encounters and horrifying spiritual experiences, and maybe none more notorious than Clare's, as she is now known...as the Pilliga Princess.Follow us on socials for more!Instagram: @wouldntreadaboutitpodFacebook: Wouldn't Read About ItTikTok: @wouldntreadaboutitpod
