Working Hard with Grace Beverley
Why your life hasn't changed (no matter how hard you've tried)
Now I LOVE personal growth, I’m very aware that I have built my career on talking about systems and habits and discipline. But I also know firsthand how frustrating it is when you follow all the steps and nothing really changes at the level you hoped it would.
So today I want to go past the ten step lists, not because they are useless, but because they are incomplete on their own, and I want to talk about why your life might not have changed even though you have genuinely been trying really hard.
Thank you so much to the brilliant John Amaechi for being my expert for this episode, if you haven't watched our episode from two years ago, it's here: https://youtu.be/Yp5omd2s6Yo?si=eQ1rI7O_hDNAGM9B

211. What actually happened to the girlboss?
26:18||Ep. 211I came across this article in Vogue a few months ago now about whether the girlboss is making a comeback, and it really got me thinking, because it feels like we all lived through this era, watched it rise, watched it fall, and not taken the time or space to examine what's behind itSo in this episode, I want to use that article to break it down and have a big old chat all about it! 210. So you want to start a fashion brand? Here’s how (with Elizabeth Stiles)
01:04:23||Ep. 210I get asked all the time how to actually build a fashion brand, from roles to pricing to manufacturers, and honestly it’s something I’ve always been a bit hesitant to cover on my own because I only have my perspective from building TALA.The reality is, fashion looks quite glamorous from the outside, but behind the scenes it’s a completely different story. So I wanted to bring in someone who’s seen it across loads of brands. I’m joined by Elizabeth Stiles, a fashion consultant who’s worked across some of the biggest brands in the UK and now advises businesses on how to grow and scale.Between the two of us, we’re breaking down exactly how a fashion brand actually works.+WHERE TO FIND ELIZABETH STILESWebsite: https://www.elizabethstiles.co.uk/Elizabeth's IG: https://www.instagram.com/elizabethstilesuk/?hl=enElizabeth's podcast (which I'm on this week!) : https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-fashion-brand-clinic-podcast/id1456543176+SIGN UP TO THE WORKING HARD NEWSLETTER: https://graceb.myflodesk.com/k0sfhlac34+FOLLOW THE PODCASTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/workinghardpod/?hl=enTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@workinghardpodcast+DILEMMA SUBMISSIONIf you'd like to submit any dilemmas to the podcast to be answered in the bonus episodes, please send them to podcast@grace-beverley.com with the subject beginning DILEMMAS or DM us @workinghardpod on instagram!+MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. 208. How to Build Wealth in Your 20s & 30s Without Giving Up the Life You Want
48:45||Ep. 208This episode is a guide to building financial freedom and being radically transparent about how to do it. Today I'm joined by Mia McGrath, who you’ll probably know from her super transparent money journey online, she went from earning a starting salary in her junior fashion job to being on the road to her first million, and she's documented every step of the way, super transparently. She has a fascinating story and was so open as to how that's impacted her life and her attitude to her finances. 206. A step-by-step guide to finding your dream life and actually making it happen with Simon Squibb
01:11:35||Ep. 206I wanted to talk to Simon, because his whole thing isn’t really “quit your job and become a millionaire”, it’s much more about building a life that actually feels like yours and being honest about the fact that most people already know what they want, they’ve just convinced themselves they can’t have it.We had some really interesting debates around work, money, privilege, purpose and what actually makes a “good” life, which made the whole conversation feel much more honest and nuanced and hopefully makes you question whether the thing you keep putting off is maybe the exact thing you should stop ignoring.I hope you enjoy listening!! +SIMON SQUIBBHis book, What's Your Dream: https://l1nq.com/b4lo0n3Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/simonsquibb/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@simonsquibb+SIGN UP TO THE WORKING HARD NEWSLETTER: https://graceb.myflodesk.com/k0sfhlac34+FOLLOW THE PODCASTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/workinghardpod/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@workinghardpodcast+DILEMMA SUBMISSIONIf you'd like to submit any dilemmas to the podcast to be answered in the bonus episodes, please send them to podcast@grace-beverley.com with the subject beginning DILEMMAS or DM us @workinghardpod on Instagram!+MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. 205. Your 3 step guide to stopping fear from holding you back in life
20:56||Ep. 205This week, we are talking about something that I genuinely think is shaping our careers, our creativity, our relationships, and our confidence more than we realise, which is the fear of being cringe. I did a bonus episode on this over a year ago now and it got such a huge response, and since then I’ve come to genuinely think the main thing that holds most people back is not lack of talent, not lack of ideas, not even lack of discipline. It’s fear of what other people think. So this episode is basically me unpacking all of that, the psychology behind why we care so much about what people think, why we massively overestimate how much people are paying attention to us, and the practical things that have genuinely helped me stop letting fear of perception make my decisions for me. +CHAPTERS0:00: Intro 1:34: The Context 7:29: Step One: Shrinking the audience 14:38: Step Two: Redefining the evidence 17:01: Step Three: Putting it into practice 19:12: Looking back +SIGN UP TO THE WORKING HARD NEWSLETTER: https://graceb.myflodesk.com/k0sfhlac34+SOPHIE TEA'S EPISODE: https://youtu.be/o-G4jPyLNWA?si=E_X7Dq-I18o4Zx2j EMMA'S EPISODE: https://youtu.be/mPn1JFfwfSE?si=5ZTOxFZM5LIFfmKK+FOLLOW THE PODCASTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/workinghardpod/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@workinghardpodcast+DILEMMA SUBMISSIONIf you'd like to submit any dilemmas to the podcast to be answered in the bonus episodes, please send them to podcast@grace-beverley.com with the subject beginning DILEMMAS or DM us @workinghardpod on Instagram!+MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. 204. A guide to surviving your 20s and thriving in your 30s with Ashley James
51:58||Ep. 204I was so excited to record with Ashley James, I've loved her videos for ages, and I knew we'd get on like a house on fire. We talk about shame, body image, speaking up, and how your relationship with yourself evolves over time. And I think if you’re in a phase where you’re questioning things a bit, you’re going through a big life change like me, or you’re trying to feel more confident, or just trying to understand yourself a bit better, there will be something in this episode for you.So think of it as a bit of a guide to surviving your 20s, thriving in your 30s, and just generally learning how to live a bit more on your own terms.I hope you love it! +ASHLEY JAMESHer book, Bimbo: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bimbo-Labels-Voice-Reclaim-Confidence-ebook/dp/B0FKSR3SRR Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ashleylouisejames/?hl=en-gb TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@ashleyjames +SIGN UP TO THE WORKING HARD NEWSLETTER: https://graceb.myflodesk.com/k0sfhlac34+FOLLOW THE PODCASTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/workinghardpod/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@workinghardpodcast+DILEMMA SUBMISSIONIf you'd like to submit any dilemmas to the podcast to be answered in the bonus episodes, please send them to podcast@grace-beverley.com with the subject beginning DILEMMAS or DM us @workinghardpod on Instagram!+MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. 19:08||Ep. 203An episode like old times: I found a theory, and became obsessed with it! So let's break down the science behind alter egos, why they actually work, and how to create one in a way that doesn’t feel weird and won’t mean you lose yourself.
