Ep.23 ‘If Things Aren't Going To Plan, You Need To Question The Plan’ The Power Of Failing With Elizabeth Day

Ep. 23

Elizabeth Day is an award-winning British author, broadcaster, and influential host of the hugely successful How to Fail podcast. A podcast that celebrates failure and lessons learned, every week How to Fail invites a new influential guest to open and talk honestly about challenges and vulnerabilities in their personal life, in a bid to show listeners that perfection doesn't exist.

Elizabeth was inspired to start the podcast following a particularly challenging period in her own life - a time when nothing went according to plan. Approaching her forties, Elizabeth found herself single, divorced, and struggling to conceive the children she’d always dreamed of having. Accepting that life is full of failure, Elizabeth launched the podcast to show people how to turn failings into something more positive, and how it’s never too late to change your life. With influential people from a range of backgrounds desperate to talk about failure, the podcast virtually took off overnight, attracting A-list celebrities including Mel C and Alexandra Burke to come on and share their story.

As well as being podcast host Elizabeth is also the best-selling author of several books, her newest called ‘Friendaholic: Confessions of a Friendship Addict’ which comes out this April. Alongside this, Elizabeth has a long-standing career in print journalism and has won various awards of recognition, her writing featured in huge publication companies such as Vogue, Elle and Grazia.

Today’s episode is for anyone who needs to celebrate the myriad of things that may be going wrong. In the episode Elizabeth shares her honest, uplifting story of her own experience of failure, as well as the insights gained doing interviews with people from all walks of life. The message of today’s episode is vitally important - things in life WILL go wrong, but failure and what we can learn from it, can inform a future of success.

  • 218. The 5 systems that changed my productivity & my life forever

    14:11||Ep. 218
    Today I thought we could go through the five systems that have had the biggest impact on both my productivity and my happiness. And I want to say both of those things deliberately, because I think we talk about productivity like it's separate from how we feel. In my experience, it really isn't. When the systems are right, you feel better. And the whole reason I like productivity is that it leaves more space for not working, and the fun bits!!The other episodes I mentioned: - The calendar bonus episode: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3YUDprqI5UKB2KHn379C8U - The goal setting episode: https://youtu.be/kHbdjlyMrVQ?si=HjDrv4Lwadd_JtUb +SIGN UP TO THE WORKING HARD NEWSLETTER: https://graceb.myflodesk.com/k0sfhlac34+FOLLOW THE PODCASTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/workinghard...TikTok: / workinghardpodcast +DILEMMA SUBMISSIONIf you'd like to submit any dilemmas to the podcast to be answered in the bonus episodes, please send them to podcast@grace-beverley.com with the subject beginning DILEMMAS or DM us @workinghardpod on instagram!+MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. • 215. How to "marry well" in 2026 (and stop dating the wrong people)

    19:40||Ep. 215
    I want to be clear about something before you listen to this episode. When I say "marry well," I don't mean marry rich or marry impressive or marry a man who looks good on paper. I mean build a relationship that genuinely makes your life better. One built on real compatibility, mutual respect, and matched effort. That goes in the direction of how you want your life to go. And that was the brief for this episode. +SIGN UP TO THE WORKING HARD NEWSLETTER: https://graceb.myflodesk.com/k0sfhlac34+FOLLOW THE PODCASTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/workinghard...TikTok: / workinghardpodcast +DILEMMA SUBMISSIONIf you'd like to submit any dilemmas to the podcast to be answered in the bonus episodes, please send them to podcast@grace-beverley.com with the subject beginning DILEMMAS or DM us @workinghardpod on instagram!+MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. • 213. How to actually build better habits (and stop getting in your own way) with Nir Eyal

    01:06:13||Ep. 213
    A while back I did a video on habit theory and it kind of took on a life of its own, loads of you messaged me about it and it's still one of the most popular videos I’ve ever done. So when I heard that the expert I spoke to in that video was finally coming to the UK, I knew I needed to make a recording happen. Nir Eyal is an author and lecturer who has spent years studying what makes humans tick, how habits actually form in the brain, why we're all so distracted and what people who achieve extraordinary things actually do differently with their days. Essentially, he’s an expert in a lot of the things we love to talk about on this side of the internet. I hope you love the episode! +WHERE TO FIND NIR EYALWebsite: https://www.nirandfar.com/ His book, Beyond Belief: https://www.nirandfar.com/beyond-belief/ His Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nireyal/ +SIGN UP TO THE WORKING HARD NEWSLETTER: https://graceb.myflodesk.com/k0sfhlac34+FOLLOW THE PODCASTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/workinghardpod/?hl=enTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@workinghardpodcast+DILEMMA SUBMISSIONIf you'd like to submit any dilemmas to the podcast to be answered in the bonus episodes, please send them to podcast@grace-beverley.com with the subject beginning DILEMMAS or DM us @workinghardpod on instagram!+MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. • 211. What actually happened to the girlboss?

    26:18||Ep. 211
    I came across this article in Vogue a few months ago now about whether the girlboss is making a comeback, and it really got me thinking, because it feels like we all lived through this era, watched it rise, watched it fall, and not taken the time or space to examine what's behind itSo in this episode, I want to use that article to break it down and have a big old chat all about it! • 210. So you want to start a fashion brand? Here’s how (with Elizabeth Stiles)

    01:04:23||Ep. 210
    I get asked all the time how to actually build a fashion brand, from roles to pricing to manufacturers, and honestly it’s something I’ve always been a bit hesitant to cover on my own because I only have my perspective from building TALA.The reality is, fashion looks quite glamorous from the outside, but behind the scenes it’s a completely different story.So I wanted to bring in someone who’s seen it across loads of brands. I’m joined by Elizabeth Stiles, a fashion consultant who’s worked across some of the biggest brands in the UK and now advises businesses on how to grow and scale.Between the two of us, we’re breaking down exactly how a fashion brand actually works.+WHERE TO FIND ELIZABETH STILESWebsite: https://www.elizabethstiles.co.uk/Elizabeth's IG: https://www.instagram.com/elizabethstilesuk/?hl=enElizabeth's podcast (which I'm on this week!) : https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-fashion-brand-clinic-podcast/id1456543176+SIGN UP TO THE WORKING HARD NEWSLETTER: https://graceb.myflodesk.com/k0sfhlac34+FOLLOW THE PODCASTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/workinghardpod/?hl=enTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@workinghardpodcast+DILEMMA SUBMISSIONIf you'd like to submit any dilemmas to the podcast to be answered in the bonus episodes, please send them to podcast@grace-beverley.com with the subject beginning DILEMMAS or DM us @workinghardpod on instagram!+MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed.
