Catherine’s own experiences while teaching in secondary schools during the years of the Section 28 legislation, which was a legislative designation for a series of laws across Britain that prohibited the "promotion of homosexuality" by local authorities, helped inspire a BBC and BFI-backed film, Blue Jean.
