  • 40. Goodbye Football, Hello Summer

    Lee and Danny this week discuss the last game of the season and where did that performance come from? A nice 5-1 win at home against Walsall. Was it the most enjoyable game of the season? and can we see more of that next season Mr Jackson? They move on and talk about the retained list. Was this the correct list? Sad bur right seeing some of the players leave, especially the ones who have been here since they were kids. Who else will leave in the summer? Danny announces that Lee has won the prediction league this season and Lee takes the win with grace and no bragging at all. They then discuss what they think will be needed next season to push for promotion and make some early predictions.

    Danny and Lee start this week by talking about Lee's exploits in Germany and a couple of funny stories that were had. Danny tells Lee about the Tranmere game, Josh Kelly getting two goals and JJOT getting sent off. They move on and talk about this seasons squad and score each player 1-10, do you agree with the scores? They finish by discussing the prediction league and how Lee is currently one point clear with one to play, they preview the big game on Saturday at a sold out Plough Lane against Walsall.

    Danny and Lee start the episode talking about the 3-2 defeat away to Swindon, another awful performance that has Lee frustrated. They then move on and ask the question - Are we in a better place staying in League 2 - they answer this and give their reasons in what they think. They give out the WHAD awards, ranging from player of the year, best signing, worst signing and lessons learnt. They finish by previewing the dead rubber on Saturday away to Tranmere.

    Danny and Lee return for another episode of the number one AFC Wimbledon podcast and this week they start by talking about the Salford win, how bad the game was but 3 points in the bag and the push for the playoff continues. They then pay tribute to Joe Kinnear who unfortunately passed away and our condolences to Joe's friends and family at this time. They talk about their favourite memories and what Joe did and meant to them. How good is Alex Bass, the boys ask that question and talk about how good Alex has been and is he better than Aaron Ramsdale? The club held a Q&A event with new MD James Woodroof, why was the meeting not streamed? a twitter post by someone within the club listed the takeaways from the meeting and the lads discuss these and what they mean going forward. They finish by previewing the away game against Swindon.

    Danny and Lee return with another episode of the number one AFC Wimbledon podcast. This week they start by discussing the easter fixtures, a draw at home to Harrogate and a lose away to Stockport. They then talk about our set pieces and why have they been so bad, from free kicks, corners and especially our penalties. Our throw in's have not really worked and is that a reason our form has changed and we are not scoring as many goals? They then talk about Josh Davison and is he badly treated by the fans and management team. With not many options, should he be playing more minutes? They finish by previewing the home game against Salford.

They start of having a discussion about politics in football and how it should be kept out of football, the reason for this chat is the special war child shirt, the England badge fiasco and a planned rally outside Plough Lane on Saturday in support of Palestine. They move on and discuss the 1-1 draw away to Crewe, how we played and was it a decent point on the road? They come back from a break and talk about Josh Kelly and 0 goals in 12, a different of opinions regarding why he hasn't scored. Is it the way we play? or does Kelly need to do more to make chances and score goals? They finish by discussing next season and what they expect will change and what we need to do to improve further, they preview the Bank Holiday fixtures, starting with Harrogate at home on good Friday and Stockport away on Monday.

    Danny is missing in action, so Lee is this week joined by Alex French. They start by discussing the 2-0 defeat to Newport, how we played and why did we lose the game. They then talk about a new photo idea the lads have had, they want listeners to send in photos of them listening to the podcast, the most obscure location the better. They speak about the tweet Stan Collymore put out requesting Wimbledon fans come on and speak civil with MK fans regarding the history of both clubs and the move. They discuss their views on this and the current state of affairs at the club. They finish by previewing the massive game away to Crewe on Saturday.

They start with the 2-0 win away to Notts County and how some discussions were had amongst the fans at half time regarding the style of play and how we were performing. Lee brings up the point that a wins a win and lets enjoy the position we are in and why does the football matter? its all about picking up points. They talk about Tuesday and how good Wimbledon were, did the red card change the game? and is Josh Kelly better used as a super sub? They move on and discuss the playoff chase and with some big games coming up against playoff rivals where will we finish? the playoff contenders and Lee asks Danny a big question. They give some unpopular opinions and ask fans to send some over. They finish with a preview of the home game against playoff chasing Newport.

What the result means to the club and everything that happened on Saturday March 2nd and what it meant to them. They talk about the Grimsby game and how it was a bit flat but this was expected after the energy used on Saturday. They preview the away game to Notts County and the home game against Gillingham.
