Why Would You Tell Me That?

The Greatest Scam in History

Season 7, Ep. 8

This week, the lads welcome back the brilliant Dr Andrew Mackillop to tell the story of the most audacious scam in Scotland’s history. It takes quite a lot to just make up a country, name yourself ruler and then sell land rights to that imaginary place. Well, that’s just the start of the story of a man named Gregor McGregor.

Now, that said, there is a video Neil plays Dave that will forever haunt his nightmares in Part 1. The man gives with one hand and takes with the other.

  • 9. Nuns' Brains In Jars

    53:22||Season 8, Ep. 9
    This week, the lads cover the amazing story of why there are 700 nuns’ brains in jars in the US. Clinician and author, Dr Daniel Nightingale talks them through the detailed studies that have been conducted on the organs and what they tell us about dementia and ‘cognitive reserve’.If that’s not enough, Neil blows Dave’s mind with the fact that the easternmost point and the westernmost point of the USA are only about 70 miles from one another. And, as it’s nearly Christmas, we’ll throw in some chat about mining bird droppings too. Can’t say fairer than that. To listen to Dave on the radio check out https://www.todayfm.com/shows/dave-moore-1499732 To see Neil on tour check out www.neildelamere.com/gigsFollow Daniel on YouTube here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUGB5YImWZ8MIZqb6QIwr7QOrder Dave's book here https://www.easons.com/daves-bad-jokes-pb-dave-moore-9781804582060 Sources:https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/567342/why-alaska-is-americas-easternmost-pointhttps://americanhistory.si.edu/explore/stories/what-load-guano-5-facts-you-didnt-know-about-bird-poop Presented and Produced by Neil Delamere and Dave MooreEdited by Eimear Shannon and Nicky RyanMusic by Dave MooreArtwork by Ray McDonnell

  • 4. Who Owns The Moon?

    53:25||Season 8, Ep. 4
    All the simple questions are asked on this podcast, week in, week out. Ketchup or brown sauce? Beef or salmon? Who owns the Moon? Yep. Standard. Dave has employed the talents of Dr. Jill Stuart, an expert in space policy, ethics and law, to explain all about humanity’s plans to explore, potentially colonise and possibly even exploit the Moon. We also meet a differently-qualified lady, who was selling plots on the sun on eBay but they stopped her. And now she’s suing them. • 3. Speak Like an Irish Person

    01:01:07||Season 8, Ep. 3
    Okay, this week’s episode won’t help you avoid the travesty of certain 'Irish' accents attempted by some Hollywood greats, because it’s not about accents. It’s about the unique way English is spoken on the island of Ireland, so it is. The phrasing, the word order, the emphatic tags — we got you covered.Who better to explain it than Sonya Matthews, someone with two degrees in Hiberno-English?As if that isn’t enough, Part 1 sees Dave find out about the toughest US Presidential candidate of all time.To listen to Dave on the radio check out https://www.todayfm.com/shows/dave-moore-1499732To see Neil on tour check out www.neildelamere.com/gigsTo follow Sonya on TikTok visit https://www.tiktok.com/@mathewssonyaPre-order Dave's book here https://www.easons.com/daves-bad-jokes-pb-dave-moore-9781804582060Sources:https://www.britannica.com/technology/V-2-rockethttps://www.history.com/news/shot-in-the-chest-100-years-ago-teddy-roosevelt-kept-on-talkinghttps://www.livescience.com/planet-earth/giant-phallus-shaped-iceberg-floating-in-conception-bay-surprises-residents-of-dildo-canadaPresented and Produced by Neil Delamere and Dave MooreEdited by Eimear Shannon and Nicky RyanMusic by Dave MooreArtwork by Ray McDonnell
  • 2. The Man Who Rescues Pop Songs

    59:31||Season 8, Ep. 2
    In this week’s episode, there is 100% less colonoscopy content than last week. Disappointing, we know. However, what this episode lacks in colorectal exploration, it more than makes up for with Dane Bowers, The Who and the Cheers theme tune! You see, Dave is introducing us all to Rob Johnson, who is a Pop Music Activist. He literally saves the pop songs that streaming forgot and gets them put online for us all to hear.Also, Neil describes the most romantic date he’s ever been on. It also features much less colorectal content than we would all have hoped. Except for Neil’s date, one would imagine. To listen to Dave on the radio check out https://www.todayfm.com/shows/dave-moore-1499732To see Neil on tour check out www.neildelamere.com/gigsTo find out more about Rob's work visit https://popmusicactivism.wixsite.com/homePre-order Dave's book here https://www.easons.com/daves-bad-jokes-pb-dave-moore-9781804582060Presented and Produced by Neil Delamere and Dave MooreEdited by Eimear Shannon and Nicky RyanMusic by Dave MooreArtwork by Ray McDonnell
