We talk with Attorney Subodh Chandra about the charges he filed on behalf of the Haitian Bridge Alliance alleging criminal behavior in Trump and Vance's attacks on the Haitian community that go beyond protected political speech, under Ohio law. Chandra explains how the 33 bomb threats that Springfield has endured since Trump and Vance attacked the community over baseless claims of eating pets has cost the municipality so much money, it rises to second degree felony counts, which others have been convicted with for far less egregious behavior. Chandra explains the next steps in this historic lawsuit and stresses that no big shot is above the law, especially when they were told the truth but kept making false accusations with dangerous results.

We sit down with Professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy to learn about her new book Corporatacracy: How to Protect Democracy from Dark Money and Corrupt Politicians, which she describes as Citizens United meets January 6th. She outlines how dark money flowed into setting up the January 6th insurrection, which corporations are putting their money toward anti-democratic ends, how citizens can make a difference and reform our system, and shares the most alarming campaign finance story she discovered while working on this book.
