Late on 8 January 2004, a woman calling herself Hasumi began posting to the Japanese message board 2channel after her usual train travelled far beyond its normal route and stopped at a deserted station she had never heard of. Over the next four hours, strangers online followed her journey through tunnels, distant drums, a terrifying encounter and finally a ride with a mysterious man, until Hasumi posted one final message and disappeared from the thread.
