Doctor Who: We're All Stories in the End

Frontier Worlds by Peter Anghelides

Season 3, Ep. 10

Greetings to anyone who bothers to read these show-notes, and welcome to our listeners in Taiwan, Bosnia and New Zealand, France and Greece. It's nice to see Doctor Who fans (a) who are from other countries and continents or (b) listening to my podcast while they're on holibobs. Either way.

This month I'm joined once again by Jon Arnold from Strangers in Space to look at the last BBC Doctor Who adventure of the 20th Century, and discuss topics as diverse as Frank Sinatra, IBM, the Right. Hon. Dominic Raab MP and the Terry Nation Naming Convention.

  • 13. History 101 by Mags L. Halliday

    02:05:35||Season 4, Ep. 13
    Happy Hallowe'en! To terrify you all to within an inch of your lives, I'm joined by the nicest man in podcasting, Mr Dan Pinn, Mr. Kevin Jordan our tame book reviewer, and a surprise guest, to discuss that time when The Doctor, Fitz and Anji joined George Orwell to witness the Spanish Civil War. Will it be the winning side who write the history books? The losers? Or... someone else?And for my best work, subscribe to The Flaneur, a new literary and cultural magazine type thing.

  • 11. Head Games by Steve Lyons

    01:45:22||Season 4, Ep. 11
    It's another mega-extended director's cut of a chat this month, as I sit down with Alex Wilcock (a self-confessed Virgin New Adventures supergeek) who even owns a t-shirt with all 61 NA covers proudly on display. We're talking about the 1995 New Adventure Head Games, by Steve Lyons, whose previous book in the range, 1994's Conundrum, is held in the highest regard by virtually everyone who's read it. While we discuss the return of Bonnie Langford's ebullient Bush, a genocide on Detrios, and a fight to the death between Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy (always bet on wiry strength, ferocity and speed over size or waistline) we also learn a lot about Alex's life, his wedding, his childhood and, erm, Liz Truss.This is a really fun chat, and that's before we find out where Kev's calling from this time. Enjoy the show, and come and say hi on Bluesky; I'm @theiainmartin.bsky.socialemail the show at: allstoriespod@icloud.comAnd for my best work, subscribe to The Flaneur, a new literary and cultural magazine type thing.Or, if you happen to be in the United States of America, join me on alternate Saturday evenings at Saints Row Brewery in Gaithersburg, MD. What connects cricket, The Mary Whitehouse Experience and November Rain? It can only be the 50th Virgin New Adventure Happy Endings, a uniquely divisive book but a uniquely welcome celebration. Welcome, welcome, and do try not to shag the groom.email: allstoriespod@icloud.comAnd for my best work, subscribe to The Flaneur, a new literary and cultural magazine type thing.Ryan Blake is a behavioural therapist, English and Philosophy teacher, and unapologetic science fiction fan. • 9.6. The High Council 5

    02:01:10||Season 4, Ep. 9.6

Vervoid Revolver.And subscribe to The Flaneur, a new literary and cultural magazine type thing. It is, literally, my best work.

  • 9. The Changing Face of Doctor Who: Scratchman by Tom Baker

    01:14:06||Season 4, Ep. 9
    This time we are once again veering off-course and looking at a different Doctor in fiction, this time the fourth Doctor who appears in a tale written by...the fourth Doctor, Tom Baker. I'm joined by the potty-mouthed irreverent scamp Harry from a famous 80's prog band to discuss this bizarre entry into the world of written Who. This is very much NSFW, for which I'm very sorry. It's all Harry's fault. He leads me astray, as you'll hear...Follow us at:email: allstoriespod@icloud.com@theiainmartin.bsky.social on BlueskyIainmartin75@substack.comOr just come and hang out on alternate Saturdays at Saint's Row Brewery in Old Town Gaithersburg, MD.
