We Are More Than Moms

The postpartum Identity crisis

Season 1, Ep. 9

Let’s chat: identity. Yes we are first and foremost moms, but we’re also so much more than that. Regardless of if you’re a working mom or a stay at home mom, we’re all innately multifaceted as humans, we’re sisters and daughters, friends and partners…the list goes on. In this episode, D&A chat about their previous identities, and how they’ve shifted, how motherhood has forced them to take inventory of their ‘roles’ and make adjustments to ensure alignment. They discuss identity crisis, questioning their purpose, uncovering so much about themselves after becoming a mom, and realizing that it’s okay to have conflicting desires - wanting to have a careers, yet also wanting to spend all day with your kids. Wanting to have alone time, but feel guilty taking it. Wanting to have an active social life, but not want to leave the house. All these different expressions can be true at the same time - the shame and guilt that comes with these desires is societal, not our own.

  • 12. Are we romantic partners or business partners?

    27:35
One of our most requested topics - relationships. With the new responsibility of a child, our relationship dynamic changes - duh, we just don’t think we realized how extreme the change would be. We speak candidly about falling into defined roles, co-existing / co-parenting vs spending quality time together, the importance of clear communication, intentionality with our time, and how we keep our romantic relationship from turning into a business relationship - a work in progress for us. Is ‘balance” even achievable? Does resentment of carrying the mental load sometimes get in the way of connection? How do we go about prioritizing our partner and not taking our relationship for granted? Tune in to her more…we’ll definitely need a part two.Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media

  • 10. Routines: Sleep, naps, feeding, solids

    39:46
Today’s episode is all about routines. We’re big fans of routines as they keep us sane, but getting on a routine that works well for your family, be it: sleeping, eating, napping, etc is hard. We chat through the first year of schedule and share our day-to-day routines, including our morning and night time routine. We speak about sleep training, starting solids, meal planning and how everything feels daunting the first time around. We chat about how we block out the noise and do what’s best for our families, go at our own pace and do what feels comfortable to us. Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media

    37:20
In todays episode, D&A take their instagram series of ‘do I need this’ to the pod. They spill the tea on the most asked about baby products: if they’re worth the money, or if they’re worth skipping. They touch on everything from bouncers vs swings, strollers (is the Doona worth it?), baby monitors, pumps and everything in between. Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media
  • 7. JOMO > FOMO

    27:42
Comparison is innately part of us as and let’s be honest, this construct feels intensified during motherhood. From body image to baby milestones, preschool admissions and so much more, the comparison and fear of ‘falling behind’ is real. How do we ground ourselves? How do we tune inwards and learn to make decisions based on our own intuition? We explore how our ego meddles with our parenting decision and why it’s important to pause, take inventory and sometimes give ourselves a reality check. This episode is brought to you by Aura - beautiful digital picture frames and the perfect Mother’s Day Gift!
