Has Russia Weaponised its Fishing Fleet against Britain?

•

Russian fishing vessels have spent hundreds of hours over Britain’s crucial undersea cables. Is Russia preparing for its next grey zone attack?

Tom and James discus the latest reports that Trump and Netanyahu will strike Iran again after the Midterms, the situation in Ukraine as Russia reverts to its ‘Grozny doctrine’ of deliberately attacking civilian targets, and whether Britain needs to adopt a far more aggressive posture to Russian militarised fishing vessels conducting surveillance on Britain’s critical national infrastructure.

  • 🇺🇸 Trump Turns on Zelensky 🇺🇦 – What Now for Ukraine?

    27:10|
In this episode of Warzones, James Glancy and Andrew Fox examine the souring relations between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky and the potentially devastating consequences for Ukraine and Europe as Washington threatens to restrict vital military support.Drawing on their experiences in Ukraine, they assess the situation on the front line, the wider fallout from America’s war with Iran and the growing strain on Western military resources. Faced with an increasingly unreliable ally and a predatory power on their doorstep, can Britain and Europe step into the breach?
  • What would trigger NATO?

    28:22|
In this episode of Warzones, James Glancy and Tom Tugendhat examine the growing tension between Russia and NATO, from unidentified drones around European military bases and threats to undersea cables and critical infrastructure, to the question of where asymmetric warfare ends and direct confrontation begins. They discuss Russia’s difficulties on the battlefield in Ukraine, the prospect of further mobilisation, the increasing importance of drone warfare and Ukraine’s campaign of deep strikes against Russian oil, logistics and infrastructure. This week, America’s military posture in Europe is also in question, with the pressure on Zelensky to curb attacks on Russian refineries, the wider impact of the conflict with Iran and disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, and the mood among US Republicans towards Britain, including emerging tensions over the Falkland Islands and the transatlantic alliance.Subscribe at www.outpostudios.net
  • Why Britain Is One Cut From Disaster

    37:36|
This week, James Glancy is joined by Tom Sharpe on WARZONES to discuss Russia’s naval threat to Britain’s undersea cables - the lines that carry most of the country’s data, banking and communications, with little redundancy and little protection.A deniable cut in the Atlantic, paired with cyber attacks, could stall the economy, and the Navy now has too few subs and frigates to deter it.They also cover Milei’s Falklands claims, Trump’s comments on British sovereignty, and Argentina’s planned new ships and aircraft. Britain is short of hulls and political will, and cannot wait until a cable is cut or the Falklands become a live crisis.
  • Houthis Capture Strategic Yemen Coastline - Advantage Iran?

    29:36|
In this episode of WARZONES, Tom Tugendhat and James Glancy examine the growing stalemate in the Iran war and the consequences of the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz. With no obvious end in sight, they consider Iran’s ability to threaten shipping and the wider economic consequences. They also examine the imbalance in the economics of modern warfare, with Iran able to deploy cheap drones against vastly more expensive Western missiles and defensive systems. As the Houthis capture Yemen’s strategic coastline and tighten their grip on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, they ask how long America can sustain this war as the costs mount - and what happens if it loses its enthusiasm, as it did in Afghanistan.
  • Defence, Security and Strategy: Britain’s place in the world

    57:48|
What are our armed forces for, who threatens us, and what role should Britain play in the world? America has the Monroe Doctrine; China has Belt and Road. Britain has no equivalent - and since 1945 our defence and foreign policy has been reactive rather than directed. This panel brings together experts from the military, intelligence, technology and industry to address three questions: how we rebuild the armed forces, how we secure the country against modern threats, and how Britain uses trade, diplomacy and military power to restore its influence. From the Reform UK conference, featuring Featuring James Glancy, Danny Kruger MP of Reform UK, Tom Sharpe OBE of the Daily Telegraph and Robert Clark of the 878 Institute.
  • Why America still hasn’t learned the hard lessons from Afghanistan

    16:10|
Five years after the fall of Kabul, James Glancy looks back at the twenty-year war in Afghanistan and asks how the biggest military coalition NATO ever assembled ended in such complete strategic failure. Drawing on his own experience fighting in Helmand and filming in Kabul as the country collapsed in 2021, he examines the failures of counterinsurgency, corruption inside the Afghan state, the disastrous Doha Agreement and the chaotic withdrawal that culminated in the Taliban walking back into power. But this is about so much more than Afghanistan. It’s about the West and the wars it has chosen to fight in the 21st century. Trillions of dollars have been spent, thousands of Western troops have lost their lives and Britain and America have been engaged in almost continuous military operations, while China has grown into an economic superpower. With the Taliban now controlling the whole of Afghanistan, the National Resistance Front still fighting and another American war underway in Iran, the question is whether the West has learned anything from twenty-five years of conflict, or whether it will continue to start wars without knowing how they will end.
  • Russia's Longest War

    40:01|
On 11 January 2026, something quiet happened.Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine had run for 1,418 days. Exactly the same length as the Soviet Union’s war against Nazi Germany, from 22 June 1941 to Victory Day on 9 May 1945. In those days, the Red Army fought from inside its own borders to the gates of Berlin. The Russian army today has captured roughly 20% of Ukraine, and still can’t take the whole Donbas. Now the war in Ukraine became Russia’s longest war since the Great Patriotic War. By the time Tom Tugendhat and James Glancy sat down to record this week’s Warzones, the count was past 1,540 days and still rising. This week on Warzones, we walk through what that means:- Russia has now lost more soldiers in Ukraine (~325,000 KIA) than in every post-WW2 conflict combined, by an order of magnitude.- Q1 2026 was Russia’s first officially recorded economic contraction of the war.- Ukrainian deep-strike drones have knocked ~43% of Russian fuel production offline.- April 2026 was the first month Russia recorded a net territorial loss since Ukraine’s Kursk incursion of August 2024.- Ukraine has gone from a tired post-Soviet economy in 2021 to the most high-tech state in Europe in 2026.- After the denial of Starlink to Russian force, Ukraine has retaken hundreds of kilometres of territory.“He would be the first Russian leader who has tried to take Kyiv and failed. The big changes in Russian history always come after defeats — 1905, 1917, 1989. This may be the next one.” TOM TUGENDHATJames Glancy & Tom Tugendhat
  • Labour Grandee criticises Starmer's Defence spending

    32:03|
After today's bombshell intervention by former Labour Defence Minister Lord Robertson, Tom and James discuss Britain’s defence crisis and Labour’s prioritisation of massive welfare spending over investment in Britain’s under-resourced Armed Forces.Meanwhile Trump announced the US will close the Straits of Hormuz until Iran comes to the negotiating table. Now approaching it's 7th week, Iran has shown few signs of conceding to America's demands to cease it's nuclear missile programme. Despite the blockade, stock markets rallied today on rumours that JD Vance is being re-deployed to Pakistan to finalise a peace deal. This is certainly not ART OF THE DEAL territory!
