Wait, You Haven't Seen...?

Episode 352 - Serendipity (2001)

Ep. 352

This week, Jaye Newport is back to talk about 2001's romantic comedy Serendipity. Starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, it's a story of two people who meet by chance while holiday shopping in New York City. But are they fated to be together? Or do they make the choice to upend their lives for one another? It's fate vs choice, crossing paths and just missing each other all over NYC, with Jeremy Piven, Molly Shannon, and a scene stealing Eugene Levy. So, is this one worth a watch over 20 years later? Or just a product of late 90s Rom-Com silliness? Let's find out...

  • 362. Episode 362 - The Amazing Mr. Blunden (1972)

    01:51:44||Ep. 362
    This week, Hammond Chamberlain is back on the show and he brought a film that is near and dear to him, The Amazing Mr. Blunden (1972). Travis hadn't even heard of this movie before it was brought up, so this is a brand new experience. It's set in 1918, when a couple of young children from London move in to a new house on an old and presumeably haunted estate in the countryside. When they meet the ghosts of Sara and Georgy they learn that they are not dead. At least, not yet. But also, that they will be. It's time travel, ghost story, and a lot of heart. But did Travis enjoy it as much as Hammond? 01:43:53||Ep. 361

It's a story about silent film actors making the transition to talkies. Also, movie stars who share on screen romance, but can't stand each other. So, is this really one of the best musicals of all time? Or is it a cringe worth product of it's time? Starring James Brolin and set in New York City, it's about an ex-cop who's daughter is kidnapped, and his race to find her and get her back, over the course of one day. So, is this a great time capsule of the late 70s in NYC, or just a dated movie that is better left on the shelf? Let's find out...Thanks go out to Audie Norman (@TheAudieNorman) for the album art.
