  • 9. Ep.9: Jon Tonks on documentary photography and pub snacks

    01:20:23||Ep. 9
    Ep.9: Jon Tonks on documentary photography and pub snacks On this episode we've been joined by Bath-based photographer, and a real favourite photographer of ours, Jon Tonks. We speak to Jon about his introduction to working in photography, which started in the lesser-seen-these-days world of press photography; his almost seamless transition into the longer form bodies of work and documentary photography and trying to find that constant balance between personal projects and commercial work. We speak to Jon about his current project; a year long documentation of sustainable fishing, commissioned by Martin Parr Foundation for We Feed The UK by The Gaia Foundation. A body of work focused on bringing attention to the positive stories of people nourishing the country in a sustainable way. This work will then go on exhibition at the Martin Parr Foundation in 2025. You can pledge to support the project here, and by donating £100 you'll receive a signed limited edition print from the project. You can check out some of Jon's work, such as his project 'For Men Who Would Be King' over on his website, and you can follow some of his latest updates over on his Instagram. As always, we're keen to hear your thoughts, and if you've got any questions for us that we can answer on a future episode, send them in to us at voicenotespodcast@jackslab.co.
