  • Hopes And Fears - 23/24 Season Review Part 2

    01:05:06
The guys return with part two of their end of season review and pick up the story on New Years Day and the disastrous 6-1 home defeat to Walsall which would turn out to be the start of a nightmare couple of months for The Mariners. They follow the season through to its conclusion and eventual safety for Artell’s men thanks in the main part to a change in formation and a more pragmatic approach to his playing style. Be sure to listen to the end of the episode as the lads conclude their first season as a podcast with the inaugural VFTF Awards; who at the club deserves special recognition (beyond Danny Rose!) and which member of the pod made the most bloopers?!PLEASE NOTE – Due to the nature of the set up for this live recording, frustratingly, the audio is not quite to the usual standard and was more difficult to edit. As a result there are some pockets of distortion and interference but hopefully it’s not too much of an inconvenience!Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Adam Howard, George Mann and Jason SadlerFollow us on X or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.comSupported by Message in a Bottle - www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpesIntro music - "Make It Last" by The Brightlights. • An Ending, A Beginning

    01:12:49
And with that, it was over! The guys, almost begrudgingly, begin the episode with a look back at Grimsby’s final game of a turbulent season; the 2-0 defeat at play off bound Crawley but do manage to find some last remaining crumbs of positivity with youth graduate Cameron Gardner securing a full ninety minutes. They then discuss in detail the club’s much anticipated retained list bidding a sad farewell to some fan favourites and assessing the potential of those offered new contracts. The episode is concluded with a chat about the club’s welcome decision to freeze season ticket prices, albeit for one month only, and the winner of our final Message in a Bottle £20 voucher is announced… Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests George Mann and Adam Howard.Follow us on Twitter or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.comSupported by Message in a Bottle - www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpesIntro / Outro music - "Make It Last" by The Brightlights.Artwork - Search 'Andrew Robinson' on Etsy

  • All Safe, Aren't We?

    01:03:57
Steve and Adam have returned from their holidays just in time to see Grimsby all but secure their football league status with an impressive 3-0 win at promotion chasing Crewe, only their second win on the road all season. The guys review the performance and then pose the million dollar question, surely we can’t mess it up from here? Jason provides our first ‘Away Days Diary’ from the defeat at Harrogate last Tuesday and then attentions turn to the Mariners next two games away at fellow strugglers Colchester midweek and at home to Swindon next Saturday; Rich from the Swindon fan podcast “The Loathed Strangers” providing insight on The Robin’s season so far. There’s also another inductee to the ‘21st Century GTFC Ultimate XI’ and a history lesson from Adam as we find out the significance of the aptly named ex Mariners goalkeeper Frederick Howard Whalley...Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Steve Claybourn and Adam HowardFollow us on Twitter or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.comSupported by Message in a Bottle - www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpesIntro / Outro music - "Make It Last" by The Brightlights.Artwork - Search 'Andrew Robinson' on Etsy
  • Marks To Prove It

    01:13:03
This week the guys are joined by another new panellist as Sam Allen, football writer for the Grimsby Telegraph, helps reflect on a potentially pivotal afternoon at the bottom of the table. Grimsby’s dogged 1-0 win over Newport coupled with losses for their three closest rivals has helped ease relegation woes but for how long? The panel go on to preview two tricky looking away games this coming week at Harrogate and Crewe and are joined by Aaron from The Railwaymen Podcast who helps provide insight on the latter. This week’s episode is rounded off with a look at the next position in our '21st Century GTFC XI' with the vote opening for your favourite left wingers and a chat with Sam about his journey from the Pontoon to the press room.Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Jason Sadler and Sam AllenFollow us on Twitter or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.comSupported by Message in a Bottle - www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpesIntro / Outro music - "Make It Last" by The Brightlights.Artwork - Search 'Andrew Robinson' on Etsy
  • Mind The Gap

    01:13:35
Chris and Jason are joined by a new panellist on this episode in the form of Jon Gerlis and he helps the guys dissect a miserable Easter weekend for Grimsby, starting with the defeat at play off chasing Barrow on (not so) Good Friday and ending with the agonising draw with Bradford at Blundell Park on Bank Holiday Monday. And with results elsewhere going against them it leaves the Mariners just two precarious points off the relegation zone so the lads go on to discuss all the worrying permutations at the bottom. In the second half of the show they look ahead to another must win game at BP next weekend, this time the visit of Newport County with Ed from the brilliant “1912 Exiles” Podcast providing all the insight on the South Wales outfit.Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Jason Sadler and Jon GerlisFollow us on Twitter or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.comSupported by Message in a Bottle - www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpesIntro / Outro music - "Make It Last" by The Brightlights.Artwork - Search 'Andrew Robinson' on Etsy.
