45. The Gospel of John: John, A Reintroduction
01:00:27||Season 8, Ep. 45Welcome to the Unity Baptist Church sermon podcast!Introductions are one of the greatest opportune moments that give us a taste of what is to come. How do you introduce yourself to others? It has been said that within 8-10 seconds, a Gen-Z individual has already made their mind up about a person. Within that 8-10 seconds, they have already determined if you are important enough to give their attention to. In the Gospel of John, there are some key introductions we immediately walk into. Senior Pastor, Heath Bauer, is leading us into a new series in the Gospel of John. Today he brings our attention to an introduction to the book. If you are in the Ashland Tri-State area, we would love to get to know you! More information on how you can connect with Unity will follow today’s talk. 58:28||Season 8, Ep. 44Welcome to the Unity Baptist Church sermon podcast!Who do you put your trust in? In 1956, President Dwight Eisenhower signed a joint resolution from Congress stating “In God We Trust” as the United States national motto. For the first time, on October 1, 1957, this motto was printed on the back side of the dollar bill. The phrase itself is said to have been dated back to the Civil War era. Before it was printed on paper currency, “In God We Trust” was found on coins, as space allowed. In 1864 it first appeared on a 2-cent coin. But, was this the heartbeat of the United States? Did every person trust in God? Is it bad or evil to trust in God? If there is someone we can put our trust in; someone who sacrificed more than we will ever be willing to let go of; someone who can redeem and rescue those who are broken and in need of a Savior, it is God. 55:37||Season 8, Ep. 43Welcome to the Unity Baptist Church sermon podcast!Do you ever feel like you need to hit a reset button in your life? If we allow it, we can let our lives get so busy and distracted from what is most important. The business controls and manipulates everything we end up doing. When we allow this to happen, the most important things about life get buried and sometimes forgotten. This week we are looking at the series, “Shadows of Christ.” In this series, we are looking at the Jewish feasts the Jews celebrate or observe. Within these feasts, there is one distinct commonality; Jesus Christ. These feasts serve as a calling to all people to surrender to Christ. What is keeping your life from turning or returning to Christ? If you are in the Ashland Tri-State area, we would love to get to know you! 01:01:43||Season 8, Ep. 42Welcome to the Unity Baptist Church sermon podcast!Has there every been a time where you wronged someone? I remember when I was around the age of 10, I was outside playing with one of my younger sisters. We were at my great grandmother’s house enjoying the summer evening playing tag in the back yard. For some reason, my sister “hit” me really hard. So, I grabbed her by the shoulders and turned her against the outside wall of a sun room. Her head went back and hit the bottom part of the window, and it broke. Glass was everywhere. I knew immediately I had wronged my sister. I also immediately knew I was going to experience a punishment I have never seen yet…and I did. 34 years later, I am still sorry for what I did. There was no hiding what I did. I asked for forgiveness, seeking atonement. This week we are in the series Shadows of Christ. In this series, we are looking at the Jewish festivals that are held throughout the Jewish calendar year. The significance to this series reveals who Jesus is and why you and I should surrender our lives to Him. If you are in the Ashland Tri-State area, we would love to get to know you! AHH!” When you read the Bible, you will discover there is a spiritual discipline that we find throughout scripture. Yes, it’s fasting. Fasting is almost aways partnered with praying. Shadows of Christ: The Feast of Trumpets
01:03:14||Season 8, Ep. 40Welcome to the Unity Baptist Church sermon podcast! What is it that keeps your mind on Christ? How often do you go back to the moments that drew you near to God? If you have been part of a youth group or student ministry, one of these moments would be summer camp. Sure camp is fun, and full of friends and great memories, but what about those moments God used at camp to draw you back to what is holy, genuine, pure, real, life-changing? Something similar happens in Jewish tradition. At the Feast of Trumpets, a shofar is blown every seven minutes to call people back to God. It was an interruption of what they were doing to call them to turn their lives to God. Today, we visit the series on Shadows of Christ. In this series we are looking at the Jewish feasts on or near the time they are observed. What we find within each feast/festival is a fulfillment in Christ. If you are in the Ashland Tri-State area, we would love to get to know you! In God We Trust: Heaven's Citizens
01:02:56||Season 8, Ep. 39Welcome to the Unity Baptist Church sermon podcast!Today, we are finishing a three part series on God and government, called “In God We Trust.” Have you ever thought about how every person has a distinct set of values? Tommy Nelson has said, “…values will determine your goals and ambitions. Your goals and ambitions determine your priorities…your priorities will determine your decisions, and your decisions will determine your destiny.” Each of us value something, and that drives our purpose and message. In the political world, this is really messy because nobody seems to show any worth or respect to values. What the government values is definitely more shallow than what Christ values. What does this look like for people who don’t believe in Jesus and those who do? If you are in the Ashland Tri-State area, we would love to get to know you! 01:00:43||Season 8, Ep. 38Welcome to the Unity Baptist Church sermon podcast! What does the model citizen look like in our day and age? We all would have some opinions about how a citizen of the United States should look like. Many of us would hope that they would agree to and live by our local, state and government laws. That would mean, a person would need to submit. Do you have a hard time submitting to authority? Do you struggle to respect leaders who have been placed to maintain and build on our country’s success? Today, Senior pastor, Heath Bauer, is in the series called “In God We Trust.” We are going to see how God’s Word encourages us to handle our spot with government. If you are in the Ashland Tri-State area, we would love to get to know you!
