5 Men Jailed for Teen Girls' Sexual Exploitation

Five men, including Codrin Dura, Leonard Paun, Stefan Ciuraru, Bogdan Gugiuman, and Klaudio Aleksiu, were jailed for nearly forty years combined for sexually exploiting six teenage girls in Gateshead. The victims were given cigarettes and alcohol in exchange for sexual favors and were passed around by their attackers. The court heard that the girls were vulnerable and immature, and their personality traits were exploited by the defendants. One victim shared that she felt she could have died during the abuse, while another expressed how the park, once a place of happy childhood memories, was forever tainted by what happened there. The judge emphasized that anyone in the country is subject to the same laws and praised the victims courage, resilience, and dignity in coming forward. Northumbria Police stated that this was a complex investigation, and support will continue to be available to the victims.
