True Hauntings
Case 149: Pilliga Princess - Phantom? Hallucination? Or Reality?
The Pilliga Scrub is an expansive area of 5,000 km2 (3,100 m2), made up of dense, semi-arid woodland š²š², located inland of northern New South Wales. This forest has a reputation for being the most spine-chilling area of wilderness in Australia š¦šŗ, with a long history of unexplained disappearances, involving sheep and cattle šš, vehicles š, and even people š„.
It is frequently traversed by long distance truck drivers along the intersecting Newell Highway at all hours of the day and night šš.The area that the vision and interactions happen on the Newell Highway between Narrabri and Coonabaraban.
But thereās something in the Pilliga that passing travellers continue to find unnerving š¬, and once they enter, truck drivers refuse to stop, they just keep going until they reach the other side.
This is more than an urban legend transmitted on the radio waves š» of truckies, or quietly discussed over an all-day breakfast š³ in some late night, remote truck stop cafeteria. The truckies are not alone in their concerns. Aboriginals from this region have long standing beliefs, passed down within their culture that the area is cursed and to be avoided š«.

197. Case 197: Chateau De Amerois Part 1 - Secret Societies and Security Cameras
43:34||Season 1, Ep. 197Behind locked gates in the Ardennes forest sits a chĆ¢teau most people have never heard of ā and thatās exactly how some would prefer it. ChĆ¢teau dāAmĆ©rois isnāt splashed across tourist brochures or wedding websites. It doesnāt trade on Instagram sunsets or glossy heritage grants. It sits quietly in Belgium, wrapped in trees and whispers, with a history that feels⦠curated. And whenever history feels curated, I start asking questions. On paper, itās aristocracy. Royal connections. Nobility. Perfect stonework and manicured grounds. But scratch just a little deeper and the story shifts tone. Rumours of secretive gatherings. Claims of ritual activity. Stories that refuse to sit neatly in the ājust a beautiful old castleā category. Now ā are all of those claims documented fact? No. And weāll separate what is provable from what is pure speculation, because thatās how we do things here. But the sheer persistence of the allegations surrounding this place is enough to make even the most hardened sceptic lean forward.Tonight, weāre stepping inside ChĆ¢teau dāAmĆ©rois ā not as gossip hunters, not as conspiracy chasers, but as investigators of narrative. What is known. What is alleged. And why certain buildings seem to attract stories that cling like damp to stone walls. Because sometimes a haunting isnāt about a ghost in the corridor⦠sometimes itās about power, secrecy, and the uncomfortable feeling that something happened behind those doors that never quite made it into the official record. Stay with us. This one is layered. But a warning - if you feel that listening to a darker tale that may involve talk about abuse is too much for you, please look after yourself and consider if this episode is for you.We have also had to split this story into two parts - this episode delves into the history of the site. Our next episode expands on the mythology and what has been said to occur behind closed doors and away from the eyes of the world. When people throw mud - some of it will always stick.WE NOW HAVE A SKOOL PAGE - https://www.skool.com/frightfully-good-paranormal-6267A community for curious minds exploring the paranormal with open minds, critical thinking, and healthy skepticism.Ā š Donāt forget to subscribe to True Hauntings for more terrifying tales, chilling investigations, and the odd bit of ghost-hunting mischief.š Support us: Buy us a coffeeš Join the madness: Become a Patreon Ghostiešŗ Watch the misadventures: YouTube: Frightfully GoodAlso Follow Anne and Renata:Facebook: @AnneAndRenataInstagram: @AnneAndRenataYouTube: @AnneAndRenataTikTok: @AnneAndRenataWe pass on our HUGE THANK YOU for listening and following. We could not do this without you.#anneandrenata #ghosts #hauntings #paranormalpodcast #frightfullygood #FrightfullyGood #HauntedHolidays #diaryofaghosthunter #poltergeist #ghostbusters #Poltergeist #PoltergeistActivity #ParanormalPodcast #TrueGhostStories #CreepyEncounters #HauntedPlaces #GhostHunter #SpiritActivity #SupernaturalStories #UrbanLegends #HauntedHistory #OccultPodcast #demons #poltergeist #TrueHauntingsPodcast #truecrimpodcast #chateaudeamerios #ghostofbelgium #hauntedeurope #ghostsofbelgium #hiddencoven #mysteriousbelgium #horrorstoriesofbelgium
196. Case 196: Malahide Castle ā Puck, Still Laughing from the Shadows
01:07:19||Season 1, Ep. 196Malahide Castle looks polite enough from the outside. Manicured grounds. Postcard Ireland. The kind of place tour buses roll into without anyone gripping their seat too tightly. But thatās the trick with places like this ā the real story doesnāt live in the stone walls or the gift shop. It lives in what happened when nobody was watching⦠and in the long memory of a family who occupied the same ground for nearly eight hundred years. In this episode, we peel back the tourist gloss and look at the actual history ā the Talbot family, their power, their secrets, their scandals, and the very human mess that builds up when generation after generation refuses to let go. This isnāt about jumping straight to ghost stories. Itās about betrayal, sudden deaths, political manoeuvring, violent endings, and the kind of unresolved business that tends to linger long after the last body is buried.Because when a place has seen loyalty rewarded with ruin, love curdle into revenge, and privilege protect some while destroying others⦠you donāt need to stretch very far to understand why people still report footsteps in empty corridors and figures where no one should be standing. This episode lays the groundwork ā the bones beneath the hauntings ā and once you hear it, Malahide Castle wonāt feel quite so well-behaved again.WE NOW HAVE A SKOOL PAGE - https://www.skool.com/frightfully-good-paranormal-6267A community for curious minds exploring the paranormal with open minds, critical thinking, and healthy skepticism.Ā š Donāt forget to subscribe to True Hauntings for more terrifying tales, chilling investigations, and the odd bit of ghost-hunting mischief.š Support us: Buy us a coffeeš Join the madness: Become a Patreon Ghostiešŗ Watch the misadventures: YouTube: Frightfully GoodAlso Follow Anne and Renata:Facebook: @AnneAndRenataInstagram: @AnneAndRenataYouTube: @AnneAndRenataTikTok: @AnneAndRenataWe pass on our HUGE THANK YOU for listening and following. We could not do this without you.#anneandrenata #ghosts #hauntings #paranormalpodcast #frightfullygood #FrightfullyGood #HauntedHolidays #diaryofaghosthunter #poltergeist #ghostbusters #Poltergeist #PoltergeistActivity #ParanormalPodcast #TrueGhostStories #CreepyEncounters #HauntedPlaces #GhostHunter #SpiritActivity #SupernaturalStories #UrbanLegends #HauntedHistory #OccultPodcast #demons #poltergeist #TrueHauntingsPodcast #malahidecastle #hauntedireland #irishghosts #hauntedcastles #hauntedirishcastles #hauntedmalahidecastle #haunteduk #irishhauntings #storiesofghosts #hauntings #truehauntingsofireland

01:07:26||Season 1, Ep. 195Fox Hollow Farm.On the surface, itās a sprawling Indiana estate: polished timber, manicured lawns, that eerie indoor pool glistening under fluorescent lights. But dig a little beneath that pretty faƧade and youāll uncover that once it wasĀ the former home of suspected serial killer Herb Baumeister. And as always, where there is tragedy⦠something tends to linger.Behind every shadow on this property there are real families who waited years ā sometimes decades ā for answers. And what makes Fox Hollow Farm such a compelling haunted site isnāt just the Baumeister case itself, but the layers that followed: the human remains still surfacing, the ongoing forensic work, the eyewitness accounts from the people who lived there long after the police tape came down. If you think you already know the Herb Baumeister storyā¦The truth is deeper, darker, and far stranger than the documentaries let on.In this episode of the True HauntingsĀ podcast, weāre pulling apart why Fox Hollow Farm is considered one of the most haunted true-crime locations in the United States. 192. Case 192: The Ghost of Raynham Hall - Real or Fake
55:58||Season 1, Ep. 192There are few ghost stories as stubbornly persistentāor as photographically boldāas that of the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall. Even if youāve never heard her name, youāve almost certainly seen the image: a spectral figure gliding down a grand staircase, flowing like smoke caught mid-breath. Itās the kind of photograph that forces you to lean in just a little too close, squinting to decide whether youāre looking at a ghost, a clever trick of light, or one of the greatest paranormal hoaxes of the twentieth century. Tonight, weāre pulling apart the threads of this famous haunting to figure out which of those possibilities still holds up.Before she became the worldās most recognisable apparition, the Brown Lady was Dorothy Walpole, sister to Britainās first Prime Minister and a woman whose life was far more dramatic than any ghost story needs to be. Trapped in a toxic marriage, separated from her children, and rumoured to have died under⦠letās say āuncomfortable circumstances,ā Dorothyās history alone is enough to leave an emotional imprint deep within the walls of Raynham Hall. And, in typical aristocratic fashion, the house itself seems determined to keep every secret ever whispered inside itāincluding hers. But then came 1936, the year that changed everything. Two photographers from Country Life captured an image that ignited a global debate that still burns today. Was it a genuine ghost caught on film? A double exposure? A staged event? Or was it something more nuancedāan honest moment misread through the lens of our obsession with the paranormal? Tonight, weāre diving into the photograph, the folklore, the woman behind the legend, and the question that refuses to die: is the Brown Lady a true haunting, or just the perfect storm of tragedy, belief, and timing? 191. Case 191: John's Coffee House - The Most Haunted Place in Edinburgh
53:34||Season 1, Ep. 191Tucked into the shadow of St Gilesā Cathedral, on what we now call Parliament Square, Johnās Coffee House once buzzed with the energy of Edinburghās legal and intellectual elite. But behind the cobblestones and grand facades lies a history thick with intrigue, secrets, and, some say, restless spirits. Tonight, weāre stepping back to 1688, into the smoky, crowded rooms where lawyers, merchants, and thinkers gathered over coffee, wine, and brandyāand where whispers of political plotting, deals, and even darker events might still echo. For anyone searching for haunted sites in Edinburgh or paranormal activity near the Royal Mile, Johnās Coffee House is a story you wonāt want to miss. This wasnāt just a coffee houseāit was a stage for ambition, rivalry, and sometimes disaster. From secretive meetings of creditors to fiery debates over the 1707 Act of Union, the people who passed through Johnās were shaping the cityāsāand the nationāsāfuture. But along with the great minds came the human flaws: heavy drinking, brawls, and a few shadowy incidents that were quietly recorded in gossip and legal notes. In this episode of the True Hauntings podcastĀ weāre digging into every layer of Johnās story: the daily āmeridianā brandy rituals of the lawyers, the infamous āCauld Cock and Featherā drink, the political plotting and late-night arguments, and the sudden destruction of the Great Fire of 1824 that buried the buildingāand possibly disturbed graves beneath its floors.Ā And weāll explore the eerie aftermath: the Police Chambers that rose on the same site, ghostly encounters reported during renovations, and the modern revival of Johnās Coffee House that leans into its dark past.Ā If youāve ever wanted a tale where history, hauntings, and human folly collideāthis is it. 190. Case 190: Old Melbourne Gaol - Victoria's Old Prison
56:51||Season 1, Ep. 190There are some places in the world that seem to be built for ghosts. Heavy walls, dark corridors, shadows that linger even when the lights are switched on. They seem to soak up misery and dread, and long after the people are gone, the walls still whisper. Melbourne has one of those places, right in the centre of the city.Ā The Old Melbourne Gaol. Today, itās a museum. Tourists wander through its three-storey cell block, peer into the tiny cells, and read about bushrangers, poisoners, and men wrongly hanged. But back in the 1800s and early 1900s, this place was a factory of punishment and death. And if ghosts really do linger where life was most cruel and unjust, then the Old Melbourne Gaol has more reason than most to be haunted.Ā In this episode of the True Hauntings Podcast we will take a walk through one of the most haunted places in Australia.Ā We delve into the dark heart of Old Melbourne Gaol, where cold bluestone walls once echoed with the final footsteps of the condemned, where skulls were stolen, death masks were cast, and where whispers still drift through the cells long after the last prisoner was led to the gallows. Overcrowding, brutality, desperate suicides and cruel punishments twisted the dream into a nightmare.
