So here we are, at the end of our journey as we look at the times movie studios stuffed up their franchise plans so hard that they had to abandon everything after the first instalment. In fact, by finishing this series of films we've managed to do what they couldn't. We started with JOHN CARTER, Tom Cruise's THE MUMMY, and here we are with 2007's THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a film which like the franchise it was meant to spawn, abruptly ends before it was supposed to. So join Colin and Jeff as they discuss the film and what went wrong.
SPOILER WARNING - Not only do we discuss this film, but we also mention the book series and more recent TV adaptation HIS DARK MATERIALS, with the last ten minutes or so being particularly spoilery, so watch out for that. There is a warning in the show itself, just before we get into it.
