The Tailgaters look back on the year that it was in prep athletics and set the stage for the hundreds of people that gathered to witness the area's top athletes receive recognition for their accomplishments.     In our last show of 2023, we set up at the site of the Hastings Tribune Goodfellows campaign — a food and toy drive that has helped Hastings families in need for nearly 100 years! During the show, we talked about some of the standout performances from the winter so far, and we chatted with Adams Central girls basketball coach Evan Smith and St. Cecilia girls head coach Greg Berndt. Also joining the show to talk about the Goodfellows program was Tribune photojournalist and Goodfellows Vice President Laura Beahm. At the time of the recording, Goodfellows is still accepting monetary donations. With the Christmas season upon us, this will be our last show until after the holidays. We will pick back up in 2024 with more winter sports action!     In this episode, the Tailgaters chat with members from the 1993 Class A Hastings High state championship football team, which won the Tigers' first state championship. Trent Clark, Josh Kohl, Lloyd McIntyre, Nick Tripe, and Kelly Weseman join the show to share their memories from the championship run. We were also joined by Terry Douglass, who was a former Hastings Tribune sports writer that covered the championship game. The champs joined the show right after their parade celebration in downtown Minden, as we discussed the magical season that ended with a state championship. We also previewed our four area semifinal football games, and we spoke with Wilcox-Hildreth head coach Luke Glenn about the Falcons' rematch with Sumner-Eddyville-Miller.     We are in full swing of the postseason for fall high school sports, so the Tailgaters gathered at the Hastings Eagles Club to talk playoff football and volleyball on a special Monday edition of the Tribland Tailgaters Talk Show. With state volleyball taking place on Wednesday, we had an early show to talk about last week's state football playoffs and the volleyball district finals from over the weekend. We also previewed the state volleyball tournament as well as the big matchups for Tribland football teams still in the mix. Adams Central head volleyball coach Libby Lollman joined us to talk about her team's season, which ended one win from the state tournament, and she gives her insight on the state tournament.
