Pet Shop Boys - Disco

In five weeks time we're going to celebrate our eighth anniversary by going track by track through Pet Shop Boys' Disco 5. So to get you up to speed we're sharing our Disco 1 - 4 episodes (previously only available on Patreon) on all podcasting platforms.

The mini-series was originally released in 2022, so some of the references might already seem like ancient history...

BUT, there's a lot to enjoy so let us know what you think to the episode and the album on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/trackbytrackuk/

  • Pet Shop Boys - Disco 5

    01:08:48|
We've made it to the grand finale of our Pet Shop Boys Disco mini series, and after sharing parts 1 - 4 (which were originally released on Patreon a few years ago) we've got a brand new episode to make our eighth anniversary, as we go track by track through Disco 5.As with its predecessor, this one is mainly about Pet Shop Boys remixing for other artists, including the legendary Tina Turner, Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher (with his High Flying Birds). They also remix Sleaford Mods' cover of West End Girls, their own duets with Olly Alexander and Soft Cell, and include the previously released rarity Let The Music Play by Carroll Thompson (produced by them and included on the soundtrack to The Crying Game).Let us know your thoughts on the album, the episode and the entire Disco series in the comments on Spotify or Instagram, or on good old fashioned email: hellotrackbytrack@gmail.com
  • Pet Shop Boys - Disco 4

    42:54|
We're up to the penultimate episode of our Disco series, and Disco 4... Or Disco Four: Remixed by Pet Shop Boys to give it its full title. So far each Disco album has had its own identity, and this one is no exception. As the title suggests, this collection - released in 2007 - features PSB remixes, with the band putting their own spin on tracks by Madonna, The Killers, David Bowie, Yoko Ono and themselves. In fact, the remixes of their own tracks are the only ones that weren't widely available when the album was released. Nevertheless, it's a strong collection of dance pop remixes from pioneers of the genre.Let us know your thoughts on the album and the episode @trackbytrackuk on Instagram, or hellotrackbytrack@gmail.com
  • Pet Shop Boys - Disco 3

    50:04|
We've reached 2003's Disco 3 as part of our Pet Shop Boys' Disco mini-series, and this one couldn't be further from its predecessor. With more of a focus on new material, as well as some remixes, rumour has it this one wasn't even originally going to be called Disco 3...Critics loved it (some more than the previous year's Release), but what do you think to this one? • Pet Shop Boys - Disco 2

    40:54|
We're continuing our Pet Shop Boys Disco mini series, and after kicking off last week with 1986's original Disco album we're jumping ahead to 1994 for Disco 2. Unlike the original, this instalment of PSB's remix collections was a non-stop mix of re-workings from two albums: Behaviour and Very. • Boyzone - Said And Done

    01:21:04|
They had two for the road before saying thank you and goodnight again, and that's when we realised - it's not all Said And Done for us because we haven't ever been track by track through a Boyzone album. They were one of the biggest boybands of the 90s, plastered all over Smash Hits and with hits galore, but how did it all begin? Before the documentary, the comeback, and before Stephen Gately's tragic passing, we're going back to Ronan, Mikey, Keith, Shane and of course Steo's beginnings. Let us know what you think to the episode and the album in the comments on Spotify and Instagram, or email hellotrackbytrack@gmail.com
  • Lily Allen - Alright, Still

    01:24:26|
The sun is in the sky, Oh why, oh why... Yes, we're all sick to death of these ruddy heatwaves, but if you're looking for something to take your mind off the heat then how about a brand new episode of Track By Track? As she tours last year's critically acclaimed West End Girl, we're celebrating 20 years of Lily Allen's debut album, Alright, Still. Expect some classic 06/07 chart chat, Royle Family references, and talk of big dresses and trainers. • Madonna - Madonna

    01:04:08|
Happy Confessions II Week to all who celebrate. And how could you not?! It's the biggest celebration since Madonna's Celebration tour, and prior to that everything else she did before that... We are SO excited to hear the new album and we think a lot of you will be counting down the days too, so to get you in the mood for Madonna's latest studio album join us as well go right back to where it all began with her debut album, Madonna. This episode was previously released as a Patreon exclusive way back in 2023, so forgive the odd reference that now makes as much sense as that Mad Donna Wheels On The Bus song. What were they thinking?!Enjoy the episode and let us know your thoughts @trackbytrackuk on Insta, or hellotrackbytrack@gmail.comAnd look out for more new episodes coming soon!
  • ABBA - Arrival

    01:35:34|
It's four years since ABBA Voyage premiered (with all four members in attendance) and the pioneering show is still going as strong as ever. To celebrate we thought it was about time for another ABBA episode, so we're starting the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Arrival album a little early. This is the collection that not only features the huge singles Dancing Queen, Money, Money, Money, and Knowing Me, Knowing You, but also Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again favourites Why Did It Have To Be Me? and My Love, My Life, as well as some killer album tracks.Let us know your thoughts on the episode and the album in the comments on Spotify, or on Instagram @trackbytrackukAnd when you've done with this one, check out our episodes on Ring Ring, Voulez-Vous, Super Trouper (feat.
