Mason Thompsen

Season 2022, Ep. 140

Mason Thompsen is a 20-year-old programmer living in Skagit County. He put his mind to it and strove forward when he was young, releasing a game when I was 15 and working on another title now. While life has not been a piece of cake for him, he believes that just goes to show that anyone, no matter where they come from or what situations they face, can accomplish their dreams if they stick to their motivation and stay determined.

Mason's company is currently a sole proprietorship that he has just listed under his name. He's been on television before, both in an advertisement for coconut Kenney's and one for the local pacific science centre when he was young, and holds an amateur radio licence. He grew up on a farm with two parents and three other siblings. He and his older sister are adopted, while his two younger siblings (one brother and one sister) are born naturally.

Mason Thompsen's mother got aggressive brain cancer in 2019, and he separated from her in order to ease the financial burden on her, moving in with his grandparents and then struggling for a little while on the streets before finding a place at the local Cascades Job Corps.

Mason's goal for the future is to release a AAA title and to get hired at a professional studio, as well as to get his bachelor's in Computer Science. As for right now, he's pursuing an A+ certification, has an IC3 certification, and is looking to enrol in Skagit Valley College next year.
