The prospect of the Ukraine war becoming a nuclear conflict has appeared to increase. Russia says Ukraine has now fired US missiles into the country. Hours after that attack, Russia confirmed a change to its nuclear doctrine - lowering the threshold at which it would consider a nuclear strike.
