Thursdeighties: The Greatest Decade Podcast
Thursdeighties Episode 13: Jung at Heart with Dr. Steve Ellerhoff (S.G.Ellerhoff)
In this very special 13th episode of the Thursdeighties podcast, Billiam celebrates the upcoming May the 4th Star Wars Day joined by Dr. S.G. Ellerhoff, literary scholar and author of several books, including the upcoming JUNG AND STAR WARS: A CONTEMPORARY MYTHOLOGY.
Scheduled to hit bookshelves (and digital bookshelves) in August 2025, JUNG AND STAR WARS is a comprehensive deep dive analysis of the Star Wars phenomenon drawing from Jungian perspectives, as well as the influence of both Joseph Campbell and James Hillman. In his book, Dr. Ellerhoff examines the rich characters and history of the saga using concepts developed in the field of analytical psychology. He explores Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012 and the concept of canon, as well as examining the Force and a number of iconic characters - Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia Organa, and more. By coming to understand the psychological ground of its mythic aspects, Dr. Ellerhoff helps us to see Star Wars as a grand narrative of the human condition.
