Three Bonus Points

2017/18, gameweek 4: Carry on wayward son

The international break is over, the transfer window has closed until January 1st and now the season begins properly – sort of. All of the squads are now confirmed, the Champions League and Europa League are set to kick up again and we are ready for Gameweek 4.

The headline fixture is of course Manchester City and Liverpool but everywhere you look in the weekend, there are tough matches to be had. We struggle to pick anything as a particular banker and that means you are going to enjoy some indecision on our part – George isn’t even sure who will be his captain will be this weekend.

We talk about the travel some players have done this week, we think about which new signings might make an instant impact and we suggest waiting to see how the two main “non-moves” will eventually pan out before bringing either into your side.

Enjoy the show!

  • 2017/18, gameweek 9: City of stars

    32:06
On a week when Ryan is basking in the glory of a more than decent wildcard re-shaping, we've switched up the format slightly to spend more time discussing last week.We pick out the really surprise results and highlight a few trends over the last few weeks that might be cause for concern if they keep up.There is also the usual preview of the weekend's football and a general expectation that Messrs Kane, Lukaku and Morata will get back to points scoring ways this weekend.Get in touch with the show on Twitter @3bonuspts or send us an email: show[at]threebonuspoints.com.
  • 2017/18, gameweek 8: Say it all over again

After two weeks off thanks to the international break, we are back to remind you that Fantasy Premier League is still important and still worth your time (or just quite good to play). We talk about the upcoming fixtures - with some focus on Liverpool versus Manchester United - as well as praising a few of the "middle" teams in the Premier League who have started well. There is also time to highlight the players that had busy travels during the time away. You will also be able to hear the confusion in Ryan's voice as he worries about making the correct decisions with his Wildcard this week.Get in touch with the show on Twitter @3bonuspts or send us an email: show[at]threebonuspoints.com. We will be having a word with Ryan about his sound as it is weird.
  • 2017/18, gameweek 7: Against all odds

    30:56
After a week off – real-life kept us apart – George and Ryan are back to look ahead to Gameweek 7. Not only is it the final week of our competition, in conjunction with Ockley Books, but it is also a chance for George to try to put together another 80+ point week after scores of 84 and 87 in Gameweeks 5 and 6.We talk about shaping your team for the season ahead, how to plan week-to-week on scores, which players are standing out as much haves and what value exists for this week. In short ahead of the big game, if you have any Man City or Chelsea players don’t sweat it, just enjoy the football. Elsewhere we talk about all of the games this weekend as well as giving some special mention to Watford. • 2017/18, gameweek 5: Ride the wild wind

    32:30
After a tough week last week that saw lots of points scored by perhaps the wrong people, the Premier League looks a little bit more straight forward in gameweek 5. Well, at least that’s what we are telling ourselves as we look ahead. How to fix the problem of Paul Pogba and Tom Heaton’s injuries is discussed, who we are backing in the two tasty clashes on Super Sunday and how we expect Liverpool and Manchester City to get on after very different weeks. There is also time to discuss George’s decision to activate his wildcard already; and whether or not it’s a good idea for the rest of us. You’ll notice some not-so-subtle gloating from Ryan as he managed to beat George in #FPL last week, there is a chat about Watford’s strengths, Tottenham’s best players now that their Wembley hoo-doo is gone and there is time for some warnings about Bournemouth. Enjoy! Get in touch with the show on Twitter @3bonuspts or send us an email: show[at]threebonuspoints.com Listen to the show Subscribe via iTunes | RSS Feed
  • 2017/18, gameweek 3: Jesus, take the wheel

    19:23
Ryan and George run a recording relay across two countries to get you all the FPL tips you need for the weekend. We took on the question of whether Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus walks from your fantasy team, as well as mulling whether team mates Kevin De Bruyne or Kyle Walker should get the boot. We dabbled with the idea of the Pogba, Mkihtaryan and Lukaku trio, wondering whether you really could have all three in your fantasy side without the universe collapsing around you. Our investigations into value from the bottom five clubs yielded little value, but the Huddersfield hype train looks as if it could be leaving the station. And we rounded things off with a handful of shouts for the captain’s armband, as one high profile FPL pick goes record hunting in the next three game weeks. • 2017/18, gameweek 2: We’re rollin’

    32:18
Gameweek 1 is out of the way and it’s safe to say we got off to an excellent start. 151 points scored between the two of us though there isn’t too much gloating the show. Instead our immediate focus is trying to get through the difficult second week of the season. We look ahead to the second round of matches – Spurs vs Chelsea and Man City vs Everton get special mentions – and bemoan the knee-jerk reactions that have seen quite a few high profile players get dropped, and advise some caution on getting carried away by the good starts of some players – hello Ahmed Hegazi. Don’t forget your chance to win a prize in our Fantasy Premier League mini-league – the code is 275852-91409. We’ll be giving the top three of our mini-league after Gameweek 7 their choice of books from Ockley Books. • 2017/18, pre-season 2: Sweating the big stuff

    42:34
With a few days still remaining until the 2017/18 Premier League season kicks off, we thought it made sense to focus on our second pre-season show on some of the biggest topics – we’ll get into specifics of our starting line-ups later this week. Ryan Keaney and George Osborn are back to talk Josep Guardiola’s rotation policy and how it will affect scoring for Manchester City’s attackers, the three newly promoted teams and who will be in our squads, brand international signings arriving into the Premier League and finally, consistent scorers. It’s a little bit longer than we expected it to be; but it should give you plenty to think about ahead of Gameweek 1 starting this Friday.
