•
Birmingham City met Sheffield United at home in the EFL Championship on 14th March 2026. A winnable game (for both sides) that looked to have turned with a sending off and a Marvin Ducksh goal in the first half.
But it didn't quite pan out that way. We had Jack Robinson and the penalty, James Beadle on top form, Patrick Bamford trolling the Blues fans, and, well, more questions for Chris Davies and his team.
In the latest Thoughts On The Blues, Simon Brew has some thoughts...

DERBY COUNTY v BIRMINGHAM CITY | Reaction. Despair. Shots on target. Now what, Chris Davies?
45:10|Ah well. Birmingham City went to Derby County for a lunchtime kick-off in the EFL Championship, as John Eustace's team aimed to further their play-off push. For Chris Davies' Blues, this was to be the game where we got our act together and really showed everyone what we were made of.In the latest Thoughts On The Blues, Simon Brew recaps the game, wonders about that team selection, and suspects that it might just have been an end of an era game of football....
BIRMINGHAM CITY v QPR | Reaction. It's a win. But what does it tell us?
40:36|After three straight defeats pretty much ended hopes of Birmingham City making the EFL Championship Play-offs, it was back to St Andrews (at Knighthead Park) for a home game against QPR. The same QPR who won 2-1 at Loftus Road before Christmas.Could The Blues bounce back? Well: yes. A 1-0 win certainly put a smile on Chris Davies' face. But is it papering over cracks, or is this progress? In the latest Thoughts On The Blues, Simon Brew considers a welcome win...
CHARLTON v BIRMINGHAM | Reaction. A 1-0 defeat. Three losses in a row. That's that?
40:54|Birmingham City went to Charlton Athletic for Chris Davies' 100th game in charge. Sadly, it feels like it might have been a pivotal one. With Lyndon Dykes lining up against us, Blues made changes - Ryan Allsop in goal for a start - and at times looked threatening. But Nathan Jones in the opposite dugout did exactly what everyone expected Nathan Jones to do, and a sore 1-0 defeat followed.Simon Brew responds to the game with all the positivity he can muster. It's a test though, chums. It's a test...
MILLWALL v BIRMINGHAM CITY | Reaction. Despair. A bad midweek. But do we keep the hope?
35:07|Ah well. It was all exciting for a while! After a great win at Norwich, Birmingham City rocked up at EFL Championship promotion contenders Millwall, hoping to secure another good away result. That, chums, is not what happened. Instead, BCFC had a glorious chance to go ahead, and then things started to go wrong. Plus! A sending off for Jhon Solis, and a grim looking injury to Kai Wagner. Are the wheels coming off?In this latest episode of Thoughts On The Blues, Simon Brew considers a testing away defeat, how this leaves us ahead of Middlesbrough, and why it's all his fault..
NORWICH CITY v BIRMINGHAM CITY | Reaction. Vicente. Ducksh. Play-offs?
45:16|Two teams in good form met in the EFL Championship at Carrow Road on 21st February 2026. Norwich City vs Birmingham City was a very different match from when the Blues met the Canaries three months prior - and it'd be a very different game too.Simon Brew, in the latest Thoughts On The Blues, considers a tricky away win, and one that leaves BCFC just one place outside the play-offs. Do we dare to dream? And is Carlos Vicente from another world?!
BIRMINGHAM CITY v LEEDS UNITED | FA Cup reaction. The ''offside goal'. The penalties. But progress?
43:29|FA Cup 4th round time, and Leeds United came to St Andrew's (at Knighthead Park) for a clash between Premiership and Championship. But you'd be hard pushed to work out which was which for most of the match.Simon Brew reflects on a 1-1 draw, on the penalty shoot-out, on a Patrick Roberts super-strike and a whole lot more...
BIRMINGHAM CITY v WBA Reaction. Ref decisions. Playing out from the back. Missed opportunity
42:02|Birmingham City would jump into the play-off places had they won. West Bromwich Albion fighting relegation. A local derby between BCFC and WBA, at a soggy St Andrews (at Knighthead Park). And a soggy, but absorbing, 0-0 draw.Simon Brew digs through the rubble of a disappointing night at The Blues. There's playing out from the back, distribution, the injury to Paik Seung-ho, and a few controversial decisions to work through as well. Get your coffee ready...
BIRMINGHAM CITY v LEICESTER CITY | Reaction. Jay Stansfield. And could Blues be rising?!
41:55|BIRMINGHAM CITY haven't had the best of runs against Leicester City over the last 15 years or so. The Blues thought set up at St Andrews knowing a win would extend their unbeaten run to a month and a week. Plus, put pressure on the EFL Championship Play-Off places. In this episode of Thoughts On The Blues, Simon Brew reflects on a very useful win, on Jay Stansfield getting himself a goal again, on the hot water not flowing from the taps in the bogs, and a worrying sense of hope...Plus: Ibrahim Osman and that goal...
