This Side of the Hill

Jared is splitting this episode between Jason and Janet as the divided trio discuss what's new on Netflix, who's who on Dancing with the Stars and what it's like inside Alix Earle's world. First up, Jason talks all things Raygun, the disgraced Australian breakdancer who went viral at the 2024 Olympics, as her new documentary just dropped on Netflix. He and Jared share their opinions and concerns after watching the film and ponder what ways this display of delusion could've been avoided. Jared reveals how Inde Navarrette, the breakout star of Obsession, is dealing with her meteoric rise to stardom, possible Oscar nomination and a creepy reporter, much to Jason's shock. Then Janet joins Jared so they can recap their iconic night at the Earle Meets World Premiere. They talk about the unexpected food choices, bountiful gift bags and surprising celebrity guests that filled the evening. The pair also chat about the new reality show itself and how it's formula mirrors that of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, down to parent-agers, best friends getting fired and sisters feuding. They also describe the decadent dinner order that might've overdone it at BLVD Steak as well as Jared's upcoming travel plans to see a star on stage.

Janet, Jason and Jared “The Lips Man” Lipscomb are back explaining, arguing and occasionally agreeing on a bevy of pop culture topics. Janet dives into the internet’s latest scammers, a faux NFL player (who takes his helmet everywhere) and an influencer that faked her way through medical school, one ‘Get Ready With Me’ Tik Tok at a time. Jared is then reminded of the real life phonies he’s encountered, while Jason reveals how he could’ve easily taken a darker path of lying had it not been for a strong moral compass. Janet and Jared reveal the details of their very low speed car accident, caused by a person with bad allergies and a penchant for guilt tripping. Luckily, all involved are safe. Jason shares his research on the children’s TV program Paw Patrol and is looking for answers regarding the pilot episode; Jared allows him three and a half minutes to air his grievances. The trio also discuss Nepo Babies by way of Britney Spears’ son and his new campaign for Mac Cosmetics. Each host has a different take on the nepotism phenomenon: from the improper usage of the term, to the genetics of talent and the price tag of becoming a pop star. Lastly, the gang reveal how Friends of the Pod (beloved listeners) can stay connected and up to date with all things This Side of the Hill, in a more intimate capacity.

Janet is back in town and recapping her and Jason’s family getaway to Utah, including the surprisingly diverse food culture, the friendly residents and the shocking drinking regulations. Jared has some nosy questions about traveling with a toddler and maintaining romance. Janet describes Meredith Marks’ store, understands why Lisa from BLACKPINK was also loving Utah and shares which friends offered up the best places to visit in Park City. Jared reveals he went on a third Hinge date and why there won’t be a fourth. He also gives insight into his love of attending his friends’ kids’ birthday parties while recounting the iconic spread and immaculate vibes of a Peter Pan themed party he went to over the weekend. The pair poke fun at Jason (who’s not available to defend himself) regarding a unique dining experience he found via Tik Tok much to the dismay of Jared and Janet. Janet shares a bizarre new website that’s turning ‘Wedding Crashing” into a mutually beneficial way for strangers to make money and get free drinks. Before wrapping up Janet tells Jared what she’s a fan of this week, which leads to a brief chat about diminishing height disparities.

The trio are reunited just in time for The Valley’s final reunion episode and are fully recovered from the plague which left both Jason and Jared scarred. They discuss Janet & Jared’s recent queso cooking video and the bizarre comments that come with going viral. Jared shares a shocking new discovery regarding a certain generation’s intelligence (no shade) and how the ‘kinda chic’ trend is officially dead. They also chat about the pros and cons of living on the west side of Los Angeles and the price one pays for an ocean, or canal, view. Jared reveals how and why he was recognized at an Apple TV event, alongside Stephen Root, aka Milton from Office Space. The Capernas share how the Arby’s food truck ended up at their home and Jason explains why he was saving himself for marriage and for Arby's. The gang also discuss Dylan Sprouse & Barbara Palvin’s meet cute, Tyga’s zero rated new AI slop album and the alleged lookalikes performing for Lil Wayne, Usher and Akon. 

The trio are reunited, albeit still on Zoom, for a quick catch up as Jared continues healing while Janet is fresh off a fun filled overnight to Vegas. Jason gets the scoop on his wife's and best friend's millennial music listening habits, after Janet got a once in a lifetime experience meeting the Backstreet Boys. She reveals why she was kicked out of her first Backstreet concert and shares how the boyband reacted to the story. The co hosts then discuss their friend Brittany's recent People Magazine exclusive & Watch What Happens Live appearance. They give their perspective on the betrayal and backlash, use the word "allegedly" a lot, and find the silver lining buried in the chaos. Lastly, the group talk about certain online comments, who's behind them and why cruel people thrive without the use of nuance and critical thinking skills.

Jared is still recovering and still has a lot to say before kicking off the weekend.
