Episode 251: Carnyx

Season 7, Ep. 51

Today on the podcast I am joined by Niamh, the front noisemaker of the Metal band, Carnyx!

Carnyx are a fresh new band to the Irish Metal scene. I first saw them at their launch show for the debut single, 'Witness', which was a show that made me an instant fan.

I'll be chatting with Niamh about how this band initially began, covering all the influences that the band blend throughout their music, which their debut single 'Witness' is a prime example of, the instrument that inspired the band's name and everything the band has in store for the future, including insight into some of their new music.

Speaking of new music, you can hear Carnyx playing new material as they will be joining Shortest Straw on their 'A New Normal Irish Tour', which kicks off tonight in Belfast, taking the tour to Dublin tomorrow in Sin E and the finishing up in Cork at Fred Zeppelins.

  • 48. Episode 248: Sunstinger

    43:50||Season 7, Ep. 48
    Today on the podcast I am joined by David and Taylor of the Scottish Shoegaze band, Sunstinger, to discuss the band's third and latest EP, 'Spare Me The Rapture', which is to be released on the 27th of August.On the band’s expansive new EP ‘Spare Me the Rapture’, Sunstinger’s sound is the product of their environment; beautiful but crushing, abrasive but oneiric and oppressive but romantic. Over the course of the EP’s six tracks, which move between delicate ethereal passages to tsunamis of fuzz warped by reverse reverbs, the band look to find comfort in the misery, romanticising the agony just to survive. We will be breaking through the EP track by track, breaking down each track and taking the listeners through the recording and writing process of the EP.The band will also be in Dublin on the 28th of August and Belfast on the 29th as part of this year edition of Gazefest, put on by Old Crow Promotions, whose lineup includes Deary, Silk, Touzai, Cable Boy, Resplandor, Skyless, Midnight Housework and Ilisium.
