Bonus Episode: Metallica Weekend at the Aviva w/ Sean McKiernan

Season 7, Ep. 44

A little bonus episode today!

In this episode I am going to be going through my thoughts and experience from the Metallica weekend that happened in the Aviva!

Normally for these kind of episodes I'd be joined by my fellow co-host Jack McBain but being that he was away, I was very fortunate enough to have his cousin Sean McKiernan step in to fill his role and chat about his experience of going both nights to the show!

With Sean joining me on this episode, it will be split in two sections - The first section will be me detailing the whole week, from donating blood as part of the Metallica Blood Drive, to attending both nights, speaking at the incredible show 'Look Who's Talking Metal', hosted by Richie and Letty of the Metal Cell Podcast and Smashing Skull Session podcasts to my show with Cork Prog-Rock band, Outsound.

The second portion of the show will be myself and Sean talking a little deeper about the two nights and what Metallica represents and stands for in today's world of Metal.

  • 40. Episode 242: Fragile Animals

    50:47||Season 7, Ep. 40
    Today on the podcast I am joined by Victoria Jenkins of Brisbane shoegaze risers Fragile Animals!I will be chatting to Victoria about the band's latest EP, 'Dead Stop', which was released on the 29th of May.The EP, 'Dead Stop', was produced by Elliot Heinrich, and was written in the aftermath of the band’s breakthrough 2025 EP 'Tourist' and their first UK and European tour - a 14-date run across Germany, Poland, Ireland, England, and Scotland, including sold-out shows and festival appearances. That period marked both a creative high and an emotional unravelling. The EP reflects the disorientation of coming down from momentum, the cost of ambition, and the fragile determination required to keep pushing forward.Myself and Victoria will be discussing the EP, talking about what it explores thematically, how the EP was written, our favorite moments on it and the two music videos created for the singles.On top of all of this, the band are currently on tour and will be taking the tour to Ireland for 3 dates, playing Dublin, Galway and Belfast!UK/EU Tour Schedule19 June - Farewell Youth Festival - Dresden, Germany20 June - Fluxbau - Berlin, Germany25 June - Sanderhaus - Kassel, Germany26 June - JZ Kamp - Bielefield, Germany27 June - ANB Nord - Dusseldorf, Germany28 June - Musicon The Hague - Rotterdam, Netherlands01 July - Le Pub - Newport, Wales02 July - Sin É - Dublin, Ireland03 July - Roisin Dubh - Galway, Ireland04 July - Ulster Sports Club - Belfast, Northern Ireland05 July - Hug and Pint - Glasgow, Scotland06 July - Sneaky Pete’s - Edinburgh, Scotland07 July - Gullivers - Manchester, England08 July - Shakespeares - Sheffield, England09 July - Folklore - London, England10 July - Supersonic - Paris, France11 July - Drop The Knife Festival - Solingen, GermanyPhoto by Kelsey Doyalwww.fragileanimalsmusic.com.auUncultivates live at Lost LaneShortest Straw in Sin E!Spaced W/ Dry Socket live at Lost Lane

    48:02||Season 7, Ep. 39
    Today on the podcast I am joined by Mark Payne of the band 4 piece death metal/deathcore Indomnius, who originally formed in 2016 in Belfast!Beginning as a technical death metal act, they  signed with USA label Roxx Records to release their debut EP entitled “Legion Within” – which was released as of September 2nd 2016Since the release of Legion Within, the bands direction has shifted from the technical to a more brutal, crushingly simplistic form of audio assault that has the sole aim of making the listener feel as if they are “getting hit in the chest with a sledgehammer!” (Road N Load Mag).The band released their latest single, Black Lake on the 30th of May, which had an accompanying music video that was posted on the YouTube channel of SLAM WORLDWIDE.The band has performed at a range of local gigs and international Festivals alongside the likes of Suffocation, Marduk, Vader, Misery Index and various other headliners.I'll be chatting to Mark about the band's history, their latest single, sick 1980s horror style artwork and music video, being an Underground band in today's era of streaming and how to get your music out their and the impact Ai has on creativity and critical thinking.Indominus on BandcampUncultivates live at Lost LaneShortest Straw in Sin E!Spaced W/ Dry Socket live at Lost Lane

    Today on the podcast I am joined by Matt and Julie of the Riotous duo, HAVVK to chat about about the band's upcoming album, 'Time Will Kill', which is out everywhere this Friday!Self-described as ‘the reckoning’, Time Will Kill is an album that chronicles the personal pursuit to reclaim control. A decisive shift in perspective from their third album, To Fall Asleep - a tumultuous rollercoaster ride of anxiety, paranoia, and the longing for reconnection - it emerges as a defiant, ground-shaking successor, sharpening HAVVK’s intensity like a storm gathering strength.I'll be going through the entire album with the band, covering all the tracks, recording process and the themes of universal tension and the race against time.HAVVK websiteHAVVK at the Roisin DubhHAVVK at AnseoOutsound album launch at Sin EUncultivates live at Lost LaneShortest Straw in Sin E!Spaced W/ Dry Socket live at Lost Lane
