Roland Garros Day 4 - Rough day for France as Alcaraz-Djokovic draws closer

Ep. 1110

There was a ‘morning after the night before’ feeling to Wednesday at Roland Garros, with the reverberations from Gael Monfils’ epic late night win still being felt around the grounds. But such is the pace of these Grand Slam tournaments, new stories quickly formed on Day 4.

Catherine, David and Matt discuss Novak Djokovic's victory over Marton Fucsovics which included an epic first set, defeat for Caroline Garcia as she got tight against Anna Blinkova, a five set victory for Thanasi Kokkinakis against Stan Wawrinka, a delightful match between Daria Kasatkina and Marketa Vondrousova, more tension in an Aryna Sabalenka press conference, a mid-match lapse from Carlos Alcaraz, Gael Monfils' withdrawal, and a big upset in the women's doubles as Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova lost their first match at a slam since 2021.

  • 1219. Miami heats up; Djokovic shock split

    01:11:04
Catherine, David and Matt convene to discuss a busy few days in Miami. The women’s final is set between Elena Rybakina and Danielle Collins and there’s chat about Rybakina’s resilient run so far, Collins’ more destructive path through, and what might happen in the final. How much has her decision to retire at the end of the season helped Collins on court? Should she be on The Backhand List? And why does Rybakina keep playing epics? On the men’s side, the big headline has been Grigor Dimitrov’s incredible performance to beat Carlos Alcaraz. How did he do it? Has he ever played better? Can he keep it going against Alexander Zverev in the semis? And why does it take Alcaraz so long to adjust tactically to his opponent?
