The One About A Survivor's Story: Turning Pain Into Purpose With Brittany Piper

Ep. 95

Content warning: Sexual violence (rape), Assault, Drug/Alcohol Use, Eating Disorders & Suicidal Idealation

In 2009, at age 20, the unthinkable happened to Brittany Piper when she was attacked by a stranger who was helping her fix her tire. After her assailant was charged and sentenced, Brittany found herself in jail, and there began her work on healing through trauma and contributions towards ending sexual violence. Between how we talk to our kids, how musical lyrics and language around sex are lending themselves to sexual violence, and so much more… This conversation is eye opening, and necessary. Whether you are the 1 in 4 who will experience sexual violence and working towards healing, or the 3 in 4 who are here to be their supports, we learn about sympathy vs empathy and how to be an active ally. Brittany Piper is now an international activist, speaker and healing coach—cultivating 300+ programs spanning 10 years and 3 continents. Her work has been recognized by The U.S. Army, The Clinton Foundation, Cosmopolitan, Elite Daily + more. She is a rape survivor and leading national expert and advocate on sexual violence prevention and recovery—speaking to tens of thousands of audience members each year.
