Sara Al Hamad is Paralegal and Business Affairs Manager at AIM and Co-Founder of Rika Muzika, a record label that celebrates their artist’s culture and storytelling. She also has a radio show on Soho Radio and is an advisory board member for Moving the Needle, an organisation supporting women in the music industry. In addition to these accomplishments she was also recognised in Music Week as a Rising Star in 2020


Having been born in Iraq, growing up in Croatia and settling in the UK. Sara often talks openly about racism she has experienced in her life which she shares with us in this episode. 


We talk to Sara off the back of the launch of Future Independents, a new educational scheme from AIM and are releasing this episode shortly after the 2021 AIM Awards which Sara was actively involved in.

    Season 4 finale! In this final episode of the series, we spoke with Alex Ampofo. Alex is an absolute powerhouse across the music industry - she is a Live Music Promoter at one of the UK's leading gig promoter and has worked on the shows and tours of some of the world’s leading talent’s such as; Ms Lauryn Hill, Robbie Williams, Janelle Monae, Ella Mai, SiR, Nao, Mura Masa, Goldlink, Jordan Rakei, Ghetts. As well as rising talents, Kojey Radical, Etta Bond, Arlo Parks, and Che Lingo to name a few. In this episode we discuss Alex's early entry into Live Music and the differences in responsibilities in various roles within live music promotion.  We also dive in to the various organisations Alex has founded including Acoustic Live which Alex founded in 2013. Acoustic Live is an award-winning events company, dedicated to the manifestation of acoustic talent and keeping stripped back music alive. Through this company, Alex has built a dedicated community, providing a powerful platform that offers artists a chance to flourish. Alex is also known as a Founder of Women Connect an established female forward collective creating safer and inclusive spaces as well as equal opportunities for women, non-binary and gender fluid people within the creative industries.     In this episode we spoke with Sophie who is Director of Partnerships at DICE. We discuss her journey into the Music from studying Arts, Music and Entertainment Management at LIPA to securing her Masters Degree in Business alongside working in South Africa as well as her passions for diversity and inclusion; specifically stemming from leadership positions.During her time in South Africa, Sophie began managing bands and working within the Live Sector in Marketing and Partnerships. After the World Cup in 2010 there was much greater opportunity to tour in South Africa which led to a huge increase in ticket sales (100,000 to 1 million a year) working on tours for huge acts such as Ed Sheeran, Rhianna, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. She was nominated by IQ Magazine for Tomorrow’s New Boss/Arthur Award and also led ERG WeNation, supporting women in live music, especially in the time of the AmINext Movement.Using the intel from her MBA Sophie has a Podcast titled 'Sound Leader' and in her spare time also plays in a folk punk band.     Esta wears many hats day to day as an Events Manager, Youth Mentor and Public Speaker on Neurodiversity, specifically Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. In this episode we were able to dive deep into her schedule and the doors that speaking openly about her dyslexia have been able to open. Since she was diagnosed during her time at University, Esta struggled academically for her younger years but has gone on to show that her creativity and drive propels her talent in the Music Industry. She is voice for others with invisible learning needs to ensure they see appropriate support, check out @life_with_dyslexia for a wealth of information. Esta also has a BA Honours Degree in Social Work and a Masters Degree in Music Business Management. Esta is a Senior Events Manager at AIM (The Association of Independent Music) and has curated some incredible events such as the AIM Independent Music Awards 2022 where the Libertines headlined, Stormzy and Lethal B both won awards and there were special guests such as JME and Giggs.
