Huge earthquake in Russia prompts tsunami; Britain may recognise Palestine, and more

A magnitude 8.8 earthquake, one of the largest on record, struck off Russia’s east coast, prompting a tsunami that hit parts of Russia, Japan and Hawaii. Sir Keir Starmer said that Britain would recognise a Palestinian state in September unless Israel agreed to a ceasefire and a two-state solution.
