Williamsburg's Christmas Tree Tradition
•
The St. George Tucker House in Williamsburg, Virginia, is believed to be the origin of Americas Christmas tree tradition. In 1842, German professor Charles Minnigerode introduced the custom of decorating a small evergreen indoors, which became a yearly family ritual. The tradition spread across Williamsburg and was passed down through generations, with the last family resident, Janet Coleman Kimbrough, keeping it alive with heirloom ornaments and hosting parties for local kids. The tradition continues today, with an artificial tree gracing the house each year, unbroken for 183 years. Checkout Solipillow.com
