The Tommy Marren Show On Midwest Radio
LONELINESS AND ISOLATION - FARMING COMMUNITY
On Tuesday morning, the Tommy Marren Show investigated loneliness and isolation within the farming community. We spoke to a number of contributors to try and identify why farmers are so impacted by loneliness and isolation.
Our guests included local farmers Martin Peyton and Mark Devane, full time beef farmer and former VP of Macra as well as Farm Safety Champion with Irish Rural Link, Mona O'Donoghue Concannon who is Interim chair of Women in Agriculture Stakeholder Group and member of the ICSA and students from St Mary's College in Ballysadare Hannah Milanzie and Izabella Lehany McGoldrick. Over the last few months and alongside their teacher Siobhan Brennan, they have been working hard the past few months on a project which helps to tackle isolation amongst farmers.
Listen to the full interview here. On Friday morning, we will be continuing the discussion as the Tommy Marren Show broadcasts live from the Teagasc Office in Ballina. We will hear from farmers and a panel of experts on the day.
Listen back here. Have your say.
