Two time liver transplant recipient Dr Karol Donnelly will be competing in the British Transplant Games in August and is the only person from Mayo who'll be representing Ireland. Herself and Gerry Cronolly from Kilasser who is also a liver transplant recipient joined Tommy Marren in studio this morning to discuss this and also wanted to remind listeners about LISN To Your Liver campaign in Sligo and Galway this summer/ autumn. Teresa Byrne is from Lispatrick, which is just beside the Connaught centre of excellence on the way from Knock to Ballyhaunis.In 1951, Teresa and her sister Kathleen stood at the crossroad junction of Reisk to wave at the newly crowned All-Ireland champions as they returned home from Dublin to Mayo.On Tuesday evening, Teresa stood at the very same junction 75 years later, as we gathered with the local community to wave at the Mayo team as they passed on their way to Ballyhaunis.To her astonishment, the bus stopped at the junction and the Sam Maguire cup was taken out of the bus at Reisk with Andy, Jack and some other members of the team.Teresa and her daughter Maria joined Tommy Marren in studio to chat this morning. Swinford woman Ciara Hughes has been married to her husband Ben for the last 3 years. Ciara is trying to get Ben to the Beaumont Hospital for life saving brain surgery but the Belfast trust have still not sent over the referral letter. She has being fighting with the hospital in Belfast and the head neurologist to get Ben to Beaumont since March and has not seen any progression. This is putting stress on both Ciara and Ben and also on their mental health as this is life threatening for Ben.Listen in to Ciara and Ben's story.

This morning Tommy Marren spoke to Barry Moloney on air. Barry Moloney is 30 years old and was born with a rate genetic condition called Hippel-Lindau – a disease that causes tumours to grow throughout his body. In 2015 Barry’s mother Marie died from the disease after years of surgeries. Barry’s doctors believe that he is a suitable candidate for a drug called Belzutifan which has been approved by the European Medicines Agency for use in the EU but the drug is not available to patients in Ireland.Without this drug Barry is likely to face a future of repeated surgeries as tumours continue to develop.
