Dense Breast Tissue-Margaret Walsh

•

Yesterday, Women and their families from across the country, gathered at Leinster House to call for the standardisation of breast density reporting. Margaret Walsh was part of a group of women in Leinster house who spoke to TD's about breast density.

Margaret Walsh discovered she had dense breast tissue in 2023, after a tumour was identified in her removed breast tissue that was tested in America, despite having a clear mammogram and ultrasound. Dense breast tissue increases the risk of breast cancers and makes it harder to identify through mammograms. Margaret is now on a 5 year treatment plan and working to make dense breast tissue testing mandatory in Ireland.
