The Thirsty Soul
Samhain (Part 2): Walking with An Cailleach and Death
In this episode, we explore Samhain, the turning point on the Celtic Wheel where we are invited to meet the depths within ourselves. The parts of ourselves that we’ve tucked away, resisted, or grown too comfortable with, even if they no longer serve us. Just as the snake sheds its skin, Samhain invites us to release what we’ve outgrown, to lay down what no longer fits, and offer these aspects to the cauldron of transformation. When we do this with reverence alchemy happens.
We also explore our relationship with death, our wise companion guiding us to live fully. Death teaches us that sometimes growth demands a sacrifice, where we are willing to lay down something precious in exchange for a fuller life. By navigating the ‘mini deaths’ such as the endings, completions, and changes in our lives, we prepare ourselves to meet the ultimate death with grace. To live life well and to die well is a gift to ourselves and others.
We pause to listen for the call of An Cailleach, that ancient wise woman of winter who guides us to reclaim our sovereignty, wildness and deepest inner knowing. Join me as we step into the coming darkness with our companions – An Cailleach and Spirit of Death

44:19||Season 1, Ep. 43In this episode, I share how to walk with the energy of Winter Solstice and not ignore it's wisdom. Winter Solstice is the turning point of the Celtic Wheel that invites us to rest, to be in stillness and solitude. It teaches us to not rush to fill the emptiness, to let ourselves be fallow and not be in a hurry to plant or grow. Can we let darkness be a teacher that shows us how to live more fully.. to show up more fully for life. And what happens if we try to side step the medicine held within Winter Solstice, the phase of life that asks us to make sacrifices, to surrender to what needs to be gifted to the earth so regeneration can happen.Visit @thethirstysoul or www.thethirstysoul.com to be kept up to date on all things happening at The Thirsty Soul.Upcoming event at the Thirsty SoulWalk the Celtic Wheel Online Circle: Winter Solstice - self paced https://thethirstysoul.com/walk-the-celtic-wheel-online-circles/Crossing the Threshold into 2026: Honor 2025 and open your heart to 2026.. 42. The Medicine of Samhain: Death and descent as a path to regeneration
38:19||Season 1, Ep. 42In this episode, I share how to walk with the energy of Samhain and not ignore it's wisdom. Samhan is the turning point of the Celtic Wheel that invites us to sit closer to the descent, death, and regeneration. How can we honor where we are changing/dying and not rush the process of it. Can we let death be a teacher that shows us how to live more fully.. to show up more fully for life.As the veils are thin, we have the opportunity to connect with our benevolent Ancestors... to remember who we are, where we come from and why we are here.Throughout this time of Samhain and until Imbolc, An Cailleach is calling us further down and further in.. asking us to come into our centre… into the void. She reminds us that their is deep medicine held in this space.. a place where all that is hidden is being unveiled. And what happens if we try to side step the medicine held within Samhain, the phase of life that asks us to make sacrifices, to surrender to what needs to be gifted to the earth so regeneration can happen.Visit @thethirstysoul or www.thethirstysoul.com to be kept up to date on all things happening at The Thirsty Soul.Upcoming event at the Thirsty SoulSamhain Shamanic Ceremony 'The Cailleachs Cave' in Foxrock, Co. 41. Anwering the call at midlife: Will it be a crisis or renaissance?
36:08||Season 1, Ep. 41In this weeks Midlife series, Roseleen explores the reason so many women feel unanchored, restless, or uninspired in midlife. Learn how to recognise the call of midlife that lays beneath the chaos, the every changing hormones and desire to retreat from the world. How can you work with this period of change and give yourself permission to build a life from your sovereign and authentic centre.Explore what happens when we keep avoiding the call held within midlife... when we ignore the subtle signs, keep pushing and clinging to old roles, identities and ways of being. What happens when we ignore our deep inner knowing and try to keep things the way they've always been - holding tight to old versions of ourselves. This is when midlife become a crisis instead of a renaissance and a rite of passage into vitality and soul maturity. How can you navigate this transition without losing yourself? That's whats today episode is all about. If you're in midlife (38 and beyond) and wondering 'how did I get here' or 'who am I beneath all the doing, roles and identities' this is the beginning of the path back to you true self.Visit @thethirstysoul or www.thethirstysoul.com to be kept up to date on all things happening at The Thirsty Soul.Upcoming event at the Thirsty SoulMidlife Initiations Program starts on 6th November, grab your early bird https://thethirstysoul.com/shamanic-and-reiki-events/the-midlife-initiation-program/Samhain Shamanic Ceremony 'The Cailleachs Cave' in Foxrock, Co. 40. What is Midlife Really Asking of You?
39:19||Season 1, Ep. 40In this episode, we explore midlife as a spiritual initiation rather than a crisis. Midlife is a liminal season where questions become your compass and stepping stones. We talk about uncertainity and confusion being part of the journey towards sovereignty and discernment. The period of life is often associated with the physical, mental and emotional symptoms but what about the call of the soul held within it - the spiritual initation? We talk about why going inwards is a key step as we turn towards the parts of ourselves we've been avoiding. Expect honest guidance on slowing down, getting support, and reclaiming vitality, values and your voice without feeling you need to fix yourself like a project. If you're in midlife (38 and beyond) and wondering 'how did I get here' or 'who am I beneath all the doing, roles and identities' this is the beginning of the path back to you true self.Visit @thethirstysoul or www.thethirstysoul.com to be kept up to date on all things happening at The Thirsty Soul.Upcoming event at the Thirsty SoulMidlife Initiations Program starts on 6th November, grab your early bird https://thethirstysoul.com/shamanic-and-reiki-events/the-midlife-initiation-program/Samhain Shamanic Ceremony 'Sacred Completions' in Foxrock, Co. 39. Autumn Equinox: When You’re Not Ready to Let Go
37:38||Season 1, Ep. 39The Autumn Equinox doesn’t wait until we feel ready. This turning of the Celtic Wheel asks us to complete, integrate, and create space for what’s coming next. In this episode of The Thirsty Soul, I talk about the medicine of this season:Meeting resistance without beating yourself up for it.Seeing completions not as big dramatic endings, but as making space for renewal.Taking time for integration so you don’t keep looping the same old patterns.Shifting routines so they actually sustain you through the darker months. That change is a natural part of lifeIt's time to turn towards resourcing yourself, choosing what to carry forward, and letting what no longer sustains you fall away.Visit @thethirstysoul or www.thethirstysoul.com to be kept up to date on all things happening at The Thirsty Soul.Upcoming event at the Thirsty SoulAutumn Equinox Shamanic Ceremony 'Sacred Completions' in Foxrock, Co. 38. Burnout & The Celtic Wheel: A map for finding your way back to life
56:00||Season 1, Ep. 38In this episode, Roseleen shows you how each turning point on the Celtic Wheel mirrors a stage of burnout, from the overextension of Summer Solstice to the surrender of Samhain and the renewal of Winter Solstice. You’ll learn to spot where you are on the Wheel, recognise the ancestral and personal patterns that keep you stuck, and discover how to move through burnout with compassion, courage, and cyclical wisdom without bypassing the deep work your soul is calling for.Drawing from 14 years of walking the Celtic Wheel and personal experience with burnout, Roseleen shares why burnout often requires more than time off… it needs excavation and rewiring of the patterns that got you there. This episode is perfect for anyone who feels they are edging towards burnout, experiencing burnout, supporting someone through burnout. It’s also for anyone interested in understanding how the Celtic Wheel aligns to the seasons of burnout. If you’re often described as highly independent or resilient but you struggle with slowing down and accepting support this is for you.Visit @thethirstysoul or www.thethirstysoul.com to be kept up to date on all things happening at The Thirsty Soul.Upcoming event at the Thirsty SoulAutumn Equinox Shamanic Ceremony 'Sacred Completions' in Foxrock, Co. 37. Lughnasadh: Not All Harvests Can Be Held in Your Hands
52:07||Season 1, Ep. 37This episode honors the sacred threshold of Lughnasadh (Lúnasa), the first harvest point on the Celtic Wheel Lugnasadh. It calls us to celebrate and is a season of abundance, gratitude, and reciprocity. It's a time to celebrate what has ripened, acknowledge what's still growing, and what needs to be composted. The first harvest is not just about what you’ve grown, it's also about how you hold it, honor it and whether you're ready to let some of it go.This is for you if:You can see your harvest clearly and want to truly allow yourself to receive it fullyYou can't see what you've grown yet and need guidance to see the bigger picture Your harvest isn't visible yet and you need to trust what’s still growing and it's timing. You measure success only on your external achievements/output and forget about all the inner expansionYou need to reassess your focus, energy and reflect on what's truly worth tending for the next cycleVisit @thethirstysoul or www.thethirstysoul.com to be kept up to date on all things happening at The Thirsty Soul.Upcoming event at the Thirsty SoulLughnasadh Shamanic Ceremony 'Celebrate the Gifts of your Harvest' in Foxrock, Co.
