Ram effortlessly lifted and then shattered the mighty bow while trying to string it. Ram married Sita, and his brothers Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughna married Urmila, Mandavi, and Shrutakirti, respectively. On their return to Ayodhya, they encountered the fearsome sage Parashuram, whose bow Ram also strung and released an arrow from, humbling the sage.
