The Social Contract with Joe Walsh

I sat down with @theadam027. He’s Jewish, I’m not, but we’re both proud Zionists. We disagree however on what, if anything, government should do to address antisemitism. It comes down to our different perspectives on speech. So we had a conversation. It was really Interesting.

The House ethics report on Gaetz is out. And it’s full or really damning stuff. But will it matter? No. In today’s Republican Party, statutory rape, illegal drug use, obstruction of justice…these are all things that will probably help Gaetz politically. That and…a missing U.S. Congresswoman? Huh?

Shame on Joe Biden and the people who’ve worked for Joe Biden these past 4yrs. Their dishonesty led directly to Trump’s reelection. Stop with all the “swamp” bullshit. Trump IS the swamp. Gen Z needs another kick in the ass. And it’s utter bullshit that we still don’t know why a 15yr old girl took a gun to school to kill. I’m in a bad mood this morning. Merry Christmas.

Elon Musk is dictating public policy in Washington. Right out in the open. An unelected multi-billionaire is telling Republicans in Congress and a Republican president elect what to do. If the government shuts down, it's Elon's call. Yes, DC is broken, the budget process is broken, but this isn't the way to fix it. Nobody elected Elon to anything, yet he's calling the shots.

American citizens have a right to peacefully protest in support of Hamas. They have a right to wave the Hamas Flag. It’s called freedom. It’s what makes America so unique and so great. Trump and his people want to end this freedom. That’s wrong. Trump pick for AG wants to kick students in this country on visas out of the country if they express support for Hamas. That’s wrong too.

Another school shooting. This time in Madison, WI. The shooter was 15yrs old. Only 15yrs old. She’d shown signs she was troubled. Those signs were ignored. There are other issues besides the gun. Clearly. Also, Trump continues to intimidate the free press and Democrats really blew it on TikTok.

Like any good authoritarian, Trump is using threats to intimidate our free press into silence. Acquiescence. ABC News caved last week. They gave in to the authoritarian and his threats. They shouldn't have. This is not how it's supposed to work in America... unless we all cave in and just let it work like this

more polling out that clearly shows more and more Republicans want Trump to be a dictator, to be an authoritarian. Polling for the past few years has shown an increasing number of Republicans and Trump supporters open to and actually supportive of an American President with the powers of a dictator. This is anathema to America, right? But why do so many Americans feel this way?

What's happening isn't normal. It isn't democracy. It's wrong. And it's not who we are. We must resist it. He's putting people in charge of government agencies who must pledge fealty to him above any fealty to the Constitution or the rule of law. He's lying about everything. He's open to imprisoning his political opponents. This must not be tolerated.
