The Social Contract with Joe Walsh

2016 was all about Trump. His base was a cult, and many others who voted for him were ashamed to say they supported him. No longer. His support now has moved well beyond his cultish base, Trump has been normalized, and the Party is now a full-fledged major political party again. The rest of the country had better wake up to this. For the sake of our democracy.

Unlike in 2016, this time they knew. This time the people knew exactly who Trump was, and they still voted for him. They knew who he was and they said either "I don't care" or "I want that." So now it's on them. Every anti-democratic and anti-rule of law thing Trump does is on them. Not Trump. Which is how a democracy should live or die.

MAGA now controls everything, they can now do anything, Democrats don't know what the heck just happened, half the country is in shock, the other half wants to take no prisoners, truth no longer matters, people are blind to the danger signs all around us...I'm worried for our country.

Who's to blame for Trump's victory? Well, Joe Biden stuck around too long, the Democratic Party is elitist and out of touch, but most of all, the American people knowingly voted for a horrible human being. That's their right. And they exercised that right. But by doing so, the American people said loud and clear that it doesn't matter what kind of human being a candidate is. That's scary.

Donald Trump won yesterday. The people spoke. And though I'm not happy with the result, I accept the result. Because that's what we as Americans are called to do. If we want to keep this great experiment going. I have great fears for this country with Trump back in the White House. And if I have the energy, I will continue to fight him and fight to defend democracy and the rule of law.

This is on us. It's our time. No more talking. It's time for choosing. And the choice is clear. We either choose to preserve this fragile democracy, or we choose to go down the road of authoritarianism. Either we as a people choose democracy or we hunker down and fight against an authoritarian takeover of this great experiment. It's up to us. It's our choice.

I'm asking every American to put their country's interests first tomorrow. I'm asking every American to think beyond their own partisan interests tomorrow and put their country first. I'm asking every American to vote tomorrow for the candidate who did NOT try to overthrow an American election. I'm asking every American to vote for the candidate they raised their children to be like. I'm not asking too much.

I'm on the road again. In Wisconsin today campaigning for Kamala Harris. And I'm hearing from too many people who are thinking about not voting. No! We need you to vote. America needs you to vote. And when you vote, please vote for the candidate who does not believe that the people who disagree with her are the enemy.

Let me set the record straight on this whole "garbage" thing. It's not Biden, and it's not Harris who believes Americans are garbage. It's Trump. Trump is the one who said America is a garbage can. Trump is the one who called his political opponents "garbage" "evil" and the "enemy within." Trump is the one who said he would have the military go after his political opponents. So quit whining about what Biden said MAGA. You embrace Trump.
