The Sherpa Screening Room: True Crime Author B.R. Bates ("The Crack City Strangler")!

Season 13, Ep. 24

This interview is a treat for all of you true crime aficionados. I really enjoyed speaking with BR, who, as I mentioned, has also written in numerous genres in addition to her true crime books. The story is well-told, also giving attention to the victims in this heinous murderous spree. We even get into a bit of the "true crime psychology". Not the psychology of me. This is true crime, and we already did a sci-fi episode. So have a listen, ok?Thanks to B.R. for coming on the show!

  • 16. Sherpa Selects: SSR-Horror Director/Cinematographer Colin Bressler!

    35:15||Season 4, Ep. 16
    Horror Fans! It's a throwback interview with horror director Colin Bressler. You can catch some of his spooooooooky stuff online or on streaming networks!________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Day 2! I've gotta hand it to a guy like Colin Bressler. From a self-described "scaredy cat" to a director of horror movies that will scare the you-know-what out of you, he certainly has come far. I'm sure he also brings his vast knowledge of camera work from reality tv to know how to capture the right shot for his movies. What's the saying? "Truth is stranger than fiction, reality tv is scarier than a colonoscopy. " Or something like that. But check out Amazon Prime for a peek at what's really scary. (Meaning Colin's movies, not "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.") Thanks for the interview Colin...here's to big budgets coming your way! Tomorrow, there's more movie talk with John Maye, the host of "The Binge Watchers Podcast.".Wanna get scared? • 10. We get to (clean!) grill Jeff Krentzman ("Mind Your Pucking Business")!

    24:28||Season 14, Ep. 10
    I guess I really didn't know as much about grill cleaning as I thought, until speaking to Jeffrey. I guess it's time to throw out that yak carcass that I left on the rotisserie. (I'd call his company, but I don't know if I'll get charged for the vultures flying around it. How embarrassing...) But his story isn't exactly what I expected it to be, which made it all the more interesting. Plus, I'm so glad that I got to actually talk about podcasting! Hey, you don't think other podcasters were avoiding me because of an "alleged" -ahem- yak carcass, do you? Anyway, check out Jeff's website for all things clean(ing) grills, and check out his podcast when the NY Rangers start their new season ( or check out older episodes). • 15. Sherpa Selects: SSR- Voiceover Actor Roy Worley!

    33:06||Season 4, Ep. 15
    There have been a few interviews that I've done with voiceover actors, and I always find them so interesting, because of the unique part they play in the entertainment field. This was a great chat, with a really nice guest, from 2020!_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Three shows this week, Rebels, and here's Number 1!! I've got such a huge backlog of shows to edit. ( I'm almost working on Season 5 as I'm writing this)I didn't realize my interview was back in February, with Roy Worley! Roy is a great talent in the voiceover field ( I wonder how well he can do an Australian accent if Mr. Bruce gets too famous with Carl's Jr. ?)and a really great guy to know. I like how he gave a crystal clear explanation of what aspiring V/O actors need to do to get their work noticed. Maybe one day we'll get to hear him doing a major motion picture trailer voiceover, as is his dream? I'll be particularly happy if he can sneak in a "Viva La Sherpalution!" in there. Thanks for swinging by and spending some time, Roy! Come back tomorrow as we talk horror with director Colin Bressler!Here's Roy's website, if you'd like to engage his dulcet tones: http://www.royworleyvo.com/Follow the show on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram at @Sherpalution, and check out my website, sherpalution.com , for older episodes, Sherpa Sheets, and Spotify playlists. • 9. True Crime Screening Room: Author Daniel Zimmerman ("Chasson's Run")

    34:39||Season 14, Ep. 9
    The first thing I had to ask Daniel before our interview was how to pronounce the escapee's name. "Just think 'Chasin' ", was his reply. This was a fascinating interview for me. Daniel has led quite the interesting life, as you will hear. Even with his connection to the events he writes about, he really brings such a unique perspective. This is one of the interviews I call a standout...even if you have to hear my voice on it. Thanks for coming on the show, Daniel!Here's the Amazon link to "Chasson's Run": https://www.amazon.com/Chassons-Run-Prison-Captivated-America-ebook/dp/B0F647K61X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3C9C1OW9Y1059&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.SrThUGy6lqcqo7PN4pktSHYcjjtNfecIyYbGerpBYZbTerLutF4fWKsdXmPAPLYb35K22htVpZOmGrhH7Gq1qMEM5YeNz1XOFxA5niiqDI2eoyKFCs7ER5W0RSSsNxg8si3NcMFENf-8zB0mSiCyp0V3L1mJcKL0q3QMZBOi4I24dAdwlbDu2SYbZHeNdXzrupBo9x67zJWQkJvvMoZn5SguJDwCkhv5uCuHAmTh9Qk.tktpFZpCFwXDQgO-ahDQJpbrGWxz_JVBEUIwmznUlKg&dib_tag=se&keywords=daniel+zimmerman&qid=1747967013&s=digital-text&sprefix=daniel+zi%2Cdigital-text%2C75&sr=1-1Catch "Sherpa Selects" on Saturdays. "Starve the Doubts" can STILL be found on your favorite podcast apps, with over 400 episodes, and I believe that Jared is still involved with Podcast Movement (although they're no longer ragers at his house...) Have a listen to this episode from 2020...and tell me what was YOUR first concert?________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________I got to know alot about Jared in our cross-promotion interviews, and had a great time collaborating with him. He's got a lot of both interesting and inspiring stories on "Starve The Doubts". It's certainly worth checking out for a good lift, lesson, and a laugh. I really admire how he can take his topics and use them for inspiration. He likes to see the world succeed. Incidentally, the night we spoke, he was teaching his daughter to ride a bicycle. Today, she's a BMX racer! (Umm, ok, she's not, really. But talk about an exciting follow up!) • 7. The Sherpa Screening Room: Adventure Illusionist Rich Manley!

    27:34||Season 14, Ep. 7
    I'm not one to leave "inside jokes" in my interviews, so just for reference; 1. "Beautiful Downtown Burbank" was referenced in the 1960's/'70's tv show, "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" which aired YEARS before Rich was born; and 2, I opened the wrong video application to record the interview, but luckily, Rich appeared...like magic! So, speaking pf magic, be sure to check out Rich's show on Tubi, "Culture Shock". where you will see much magic, and of course, be amazed. If you haven't caught it yet, get ready for an absolutely fascinating interview here (his part, not mine) where we are chatting about magic, and the world around us. • 10. Sherpa Selects: SSR-Actor Joe Finfera!

    50:32||Season 4, Ep. 10
    A throwback to a COVID era interview! It's funny-I'd seen Joe a while back on General Hospital, twice playing seedy characters, yet when I interviewed, ghe was definitely one of the most down to earth actors I'd met. There are a few that fall on this list, but somebody better cast this guy as a regular on a tv show-the tv world is missing out on a true talent!___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________I think if Joe wasn't an actor, I could imagine him as a motivational speaker. You'll hear the positivity just flowing out of his words. This is a guy that you can tell puts 1000% in his life, whether it be fitness, acting, business, or even being a dad. It's funny, I completely forgot that I once had a copy of "The Complete Book of Abs", that Joe modeled for. Your Sherpa once modeled for a calendar. What? You've never seen the "Don't Let This Happen To You and For God's Sake, Put A Shirt On, People Are Getting Nauseous " calendar? Trust me, it was a big seller. Doubled as a dartboard, too. But seriously, keep an eye open for Joe's upcoming projects. "Things Buried" is the best 13 minutes you can spend on YouTube. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a beard to work on. Where did that extra yak hair go?Joe's IMDB page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1316530/Joe's YouTube page : https://www.youtube.com/user/joefinfera1Don't forget to check out the other "Faces To Watch" episodes this week!Follow the show on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram at @Sherpalution, and check out my website, sherpalution.com , for older episodes, Sherpa Sheets, and Spotify playlists.
