Podcast Picks with Jim The Podcast Sherpa
Author/Podcaster Wendy Kok( "A Juicy Pear")!
I believe that "A Juicy Pear is still putting out new episodes...AND Wendy has a new book out! Stuff to hear and read! This was an interesting chat...thanks for checking it out!

Simple question, Rebels- How can a person NOT be busy with 2 sets of twins? I found it amazing that being a busy working mom, Wendy Kok had the time to write the incredible book, "A Grey Resort.". PLUS co-host a podcast! It must be that Michigan air. (Not making jokes about the water, because, well, you know...) Nonetheless, she was really interesting to interview, and I'm sure you'll be seein or hearing new things from her creative mind in the near future. Thanks for swinging by, Wendy!

5. A Prison Phone Interview with Michael Fogt ("Gunbarrels & Backroads")!
35:26||Season 16, Ep. 5I guess in the short time that I've been doing true crime episodes, it would be inevitable for me to speak to someone arrested for murder. But leave it to me to be able to get it done in 3 tries, instead of 1! Nonetheless, I found this to be a very different type of interview for me, as you would expect. Michael was as brutally honest with me in this interview as he is in his book. He is someone clearly self-aware of who he is and what he is incarcerated for. If you've seen the episode of "Evil Lives Here", you'll notice that he is a large man who is now confined to a wheelchair as a result of injuries and health problems. In his book, he mentions that he weighed over 300 pounds while in the Iron Horsemen and working as a mob enforcer. I thought the show was an interesting companion piece to the book. He doesn't portray himself as neither a victim or a hero, but as a man who chose violence after his own abused upbringing. (I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, Rebels.) Thank you to Mike and Jenny for this interview. You can buy "Gunbarrels & Backroads:Shootouts, Addictions, and the Long Road to Prison" here: https://tinyurl.com/2y3hou9vProgramming note: Catch "Sherpa Selects" on Saturdays. 7. Actress Jenna Coker-Jones !! ("The Savant", Chicago Med")
41:04||Season 7, Ep. 7Since this episode, Jenna has been ALL over your media map, doing tv, plays, writing, singing, coaching, etc. She even did a Christmas movie with Mario Lopez (which I swill truly forgive her for) . They call her a firecracker, and one listen to this interview will clue you in!_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________As you will plainly hear, Rebels, this was a fun show. Jenna is every bit the bundle of energy that you see in the promo videos for her website. And what a talented lady, I should add, as well! She's clearly led an interesting life, and is a born entertainer. I love it when a guest can come on the show and just have fun while getting their story across. (But please keep in mind that if you are considering changing the way you eat, PLEASE consult with a medical professional, as this is not a medical podcast, and that I'm presenting the viewpoints and methodologies of my guests. You'll note that Jenna said that she will work with her clients' doctors.) So, have a listen to a fascinating story, and get to know a super-fun lady, whom I hope lands a podcast of her own one day. And if you're in St. Louis, MO, "Walk Like A Man" and catch Jenna and her hubby in the stage production of "Jersey Boys". (Please disregard this announcement if you decided to listen to this episode in 2045.) Thank so much for coming on the show, Jenna! 5. DC The Brain Supreme (aka DC Glenn) of Tag Team ("Whoomp! There It Is")!
46:33||Season 7, Ep. 5"So DC, what do you think my rapper name should be?" Probably the favorite question I've ever asked a guest. And his reply makes it more of a classic! (I was thinking maybe "Italian Ice") But this was an interesting throwback, to a catch up with a career. And if you hear their song playing, you know Tag Team is back in effect! (Am I even allowed to use that term???)_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Party Peoplllllllllllleeee!!!! Sorry, I can't do in writing what DC does on a recording. I might sound better with "Viva La Sherpalution!", but I'm one of the few who say it. And it's usually in the bank. Don't ask. Long story. Remember a while back, when I interviewed Australian supermodel Jasmin Shojai? (You don't??! Then head on to my website and listen to it....after you hear this episode.) The whole time, I was so impressed at how driven she was. I got the same feeling speaking with DC. As you'll hear in the interview, having a number one million selling single isn't making him rest on his laurels; but instead, he's expanding his horizons. And I have no doubt that he'll be successful in his next venture. Keep an ryr out on The Brain Supreme, Rebels! You can hear this podcast on the Helium Radio Network Fridays at 8:30 AM EDT, on Channel 1, Life Improvement Radio. 4. Author/Podcaster SJ Childs ("The SJ Childs Show")!
30:26||Season 7, Ep. 4Happy to report that this podcast is still on the airwaves in Podcastia, and Sarah has been doing quite a bit of public speaking and promoting autism awareness. In other words, she's still fighting the good fight. BTW, some really powerful statements in this interview, so have a listen, ok?___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Sarah (SJ) is truly someone who's put her life into her life's work.Being the mom of 3 autistic children, she has channelled her experiences into both her books and her podcast. I don't know much about autism, to be perfectly honest, but I know that she has brought autism awareness to another level. I got to meet her son before the interview, and she was telling me how he wants to have his own podcast. With a mom like SJ, I'm sure that anything is possible. 1. Your Career Transfusion, with Jolie Downs!
36:58||Season 7, Ep. 1Happy to report that Jolie has a new career oriented podcast , called "Career Wanderlust", which I'm sure is LOADED with career advice for moving your best foot forward. Unfortunately, when I put my best foot forward, I tend to wreck my shoes from stepping in something, um...unfortunate. But forget about that for now, and you can learn something from our interview, from a few years ago.__________________________________________________________________________________________There's nothing like kicking off a new season with some great advice. And Jolie certainly provided us with valuable information. With all of these changing times, maybe some of us are looking for a change, and possibly a change in our careers. So have a listen to Jolie's podcast, and you just might be on your way to that career change you've always wanted. As i mentioned in the onset, it was fun for me to "interview the interviewer", while also learning about mastering the interview at the same time. 2. Battling Griselda Blanco in the Miami Drug Wars! w Lt. Raul Diaz and Sean Oliver ("Killing The Lieutenant")
27:56||Season 16, Ep. 2Rebels, in all fairness, this is more than a book about a drug war. It's a snapshot. About drug-infested Miami in the 1970's, and the society around it, and Lt. Diaz's place in this battle. The book is chock full of gritty, brutally honest stories of the life of a police officer during these times. And don't get me started on the Monkey!! Both Raul and Sean have lots to say in this interview. Wait til you hear what they say about the Griselda biopic, too! It's a great deep dive to a wild and earlier time.
