Christina Jansen introduces us to Nel Linssen's jewellery.

It has been eight years since the passing of the remarkable Dutch jeweller Nel Linssen, yet her innovative paper jewellery remains one of the greatest legacies in the world of modern jewellery. Originally trained as a textile designer, her intuitive approach to materials led to a lifelong dedication to her paper jewellery practice.

  • Emily Sutton | Animals Everywhere

    12:15|
Animals really are everywhere in Emily Sutton’s work. Her eye is naturally drawn to the dog in the street, pigeons on buildings, horses in a field or the creatures inhabiting gardens, stable yards and the countryside. For Emily, animals bring fun, character, and life to a picture.Animals Everywhere brings together paintings and works on paper with a new group of monochrome embroideries, reconnecting Emily with the textile work that was an important part of her early practice which began at Edinburgh College of Art. Wild horses, a lion, tiger and bear sit alongside more domestic subjects, including a dog in a garden and a cat with kittens. From Parisian streets to allotments and the countryside, these are richly observed worlds filled with Emily’s characteristic detail. Look closely and there is always something else to discover and somewhere, an animal waiting to be found.
