A nine-nothing run in the third quarter gave them their first lead, and an eleven-nothing spurt to open the fourth quarter extended their advantage to six points. Although they struggled offensively in the final five minutes, the Pack held on for the victory. The game was marked by dominant rebounding and defense, with Nevada securing forty-two rebounds compared to New Mexicos thirty and forcing long scoring droughts on the Lobos.
