Cyclone Alfred messed with the pod’s plans, but Marty does anything for a free lunch and still managed to get along to Brothers 120th Anniversary Luncheon and then to the Australian Club Rugby Championships the following day. He spoke to some incredible people in the world of rugby, including Dr Brett Robinson (Chair of World Rugby), former wallabies, and key figures in the Queensland Club scene.

Back for the first episode of 2025, Ben & Marty celebrate the Reds’ win in their opening match of the Super Rugby season, and recap the big stories from the past few months. What does the new broadcasting deal mean for Australian rugby? Should we be have more trade of players across the ditch? Is the new scrum-half rule a bit soft? With the Rugby Championship over, Ben & Marty have one final chat before hanging up the headphones and taking a break. They talked about the Wallabies performance, the Wallaroos great performance, and looked ahead to the Northern Tour in November. Marty also had a honest deep dive into the state of rugby in the country with former Reds player and current player agent, Dallan Murphy. Marty also had a chat with Dale Roberson, the Queensland Reds Academy Coach, to get his view on the current U16 and U19s competition and how important it is to have the right pathways for new talent.

Another special episode this week sees Marty sitting down to chat with Australian Rugby royalty, Tim Horan. Together they reviewed the QPR Final and made their predictions for next season, as well as talking about where the Super Rugby competition needs to head to keep viewership. Finally, Tim gave his insights into the potential Wallabies team that could be going up against the All Blacks this weekend.

A special ‘interview only’ episode this week, with Marty sitting down with Kaitlin Shave, the athletics turned Rugby 7s superstar! Kaitlin opened up about her injury and her past, as she shared stories of her journey from starting out in rugby to playing the Olympic stage in Paris.
