We are delighted to welcome back Olympic swimmer Andrew Bree for a deeper conversation focused on mental health and wellbeing. Having already shared his sporting journey with us in part one of the podcast, Andrew reflects on the personal challenges, lessons and growth that have shaped his understanding of mental health both during and beyond the pressures of elite sporting level environments. This episode is about honesty, resilience and why taking care of your brain matters just as much as taking care of your body. Andrew talks about his own depression, his coping mechanisms including cold water swimming and barefoot walking as well as his views on social media, sedentary adolescents and phone away boxes in secondary schools. We have a wonderful episode to kick start the season and we are delighted to welcome Cork GAA legend, (there's no other word for him!) Jimmy Barry Murphy into studio for a feature length interview on his incredible career as a dual All Ireland winner, multiple All -Star and his transition into Cork Senior Hurling manager after a glittering playing career.

We’re delighted to welcome Richie Sadlier back to PBC Podcast for a wide ranging chat with Brian O Leary and Sam Hernan. Richie is a former footballer and current RTÉ football panelist who has covered 4 Euros and 3 World Cups as a pundit and who also wrote Irish Sports Book of the Year 2019: his autobiography, ‘Recovering.’ He works as a psychotherapist specialising in working with teenagers and regularly contributes to television and radio on adolescent development and issues relating to young people.With our TY crew on work experience, 6th years Brian and Sam, former podcasters themselves, returned to the mics for a sometimes lighthearted, sometimes serious conversation. Naturally among the topics were soccer and Richie’s move from home to pursue a professional soccer contract after doing his Leaving Cert; his curtailed professional career and the impact on his mental health; his views on the modern game and his experience as a pundit including his early days alongside John Giles, Liam Brady and Eamon Dunphy. Mobile phones and social media in school are also a hot topic and it’s interesting to hear our 6th years give their perspectives on our recent no phone day in Pres.
